The dark, cozy ambiance here is popular among lovers, but the food and wine are the real stars. The menu changes bi-monthly, so there is always some new delight to try. Relax in the softly lit room or choose a patio table to observe the action on Lower Greenville. Lunch favorites include the quiche lorraine and walnut sea bass. Popular dinner entrees include the braised lamb shank and beef tenderloin. Cream of mushroom soup is a favorite starter. The wine list has over 100 offerings with several reasonably priced selections.

New ownership – After reading the most recent review, in which someone awarded my favorite restaurant a pathetic "one star" rating, I felt the need to come in here and write my own review. The Grape has VERY RECENTLY (right at the time of the previous review) had an ownership change, and is now owned by a chef who used to work at the Grape a couple of years ago. So that would explain the "low inventory" and the "slow service". DO NOT JUDGE THIS RESTAURANT BY THIS EXPERIENCE. My wife and I have been to the Grape maybe 100 tim... read more
What a disappointment... – We have been looking forward to visiting The Grape for some time now. After reading about it here and on Zagat we were excited to try a Dallas institution. Boy -- were we disappointed. We had 8:30 reservations and did not get seated until 9:30. We were stuck in a table in between two other tables with one inch on all sides of us. I don't understand how this place can be considered "romantic". Our order came out wrong, nobody in our party of 6 was happy with the meal. They were ?low on inventory? of... read more
Great atmosphere!! – I love The Grape...since moving to Dallas two years ago I have been several times. Love the fact that it is in the middle of the Greenville area and still holds style and class. Sure sometimes there is a wait, restaurants get very busy but I have always understood that things don't always go right in the restaurant business and sometimes when they are busy you have to wait and your food might come out late...but sit back and enjoy a good bottle of vino and enjoy the show!! I love the food and the wine li... read more
Best Cream of Mushroom Soup! – I am probably biased because the restaurant is walking distance to my house but this is an old stand by. Love the cream of mushroom soup, everything else on the menu is good too. And the wine list is awesome. Great place for a quiet dinner with friends or romantic dinner for 2.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE – Went for a much needed Saturday night out with my husband...leaving our 8wk old baby with her grandparents to babysit. We were expecting a romantic, fun, enjoyable evening. Instead, we waited 30 min for the waitress to bring us a glass of wine. After finally ordering, and the waitress not writing down our order, we waited 1.5 hrs for our food!!! After bringing out the wrong food, we were told the manager would be coming over to speak to us. We assumed they would offer a free dessert or glass of wi... read more
This charming, romantic wine bistro has served a loyal clientele for more than three decades with witty, sumptuous delights. – The Scene Dark woods, red-and-white checkered tablecloths and murals of grape vines recall bistro and wine country. The restaurant seats a few dozen at best, lending an air of intimacy, but reverberation from the concrete floors makes conversation difficult. A blackboard lists the menu, which changes every two weeks. The Food Mainstays include the very woodsy and creamy mushroom soup. Baked Brie and ... read more
Oldest on Greenville – This is a moderately expensive ($25 a plate) well established romatic restaurant on lower Greenville. Good food with rotating menu and a very extensive wine and cheese list. Very warm atmosphere for occaisions such as anniversary, bithday and special dates. Service is impeccable and courteous. Also rated by Zagat.
The Grape has a 4.5 star rating with 465 reviews.
