This is the absolute worst company and them even being a company in business is beyond me. I’ve got some pretty crappy stories about this heartless company. Our bills have doubled even tripled since Liberty took over and a hunch tells me it’s because we are paying off the company’s (empire) remaining debt. Not really sure how they are able to sleep at night. It’s a sad day when you have to decide what’s going to get paid your house payment or electric because lord knows there is no grace with this company. Absolutely HATE th... read more

Bills have doubled and when you call to ask why, they beat around the bush and really never answer your question

If I could use another electric company I surely would...I'm so far down the hole right now with no sign of light thanks to this company. They charged me more in the winter than in the summer when I actually was using more electricity....we were gone for a week at one point of time for the holidays and came back to them saying we used even more energy THAT week and we had everything turned off...our only heater was a wood stove...seriously! Worse electric company EVER

Empire District Electric Sucks! They can't tell you why your bill went from $200 a month one year, to $164 a month the next year, and finally to $303 a month the following year on the set payment plan. When you ask intelligent questions like "How much was my usage, and what did they base the payment off of if it wasn't my usage" Empire has no response but silence. Solar panels are sounding better by the minute.
