beautiful hotel, badly managed – housekeeping was sloppy, I had to change rooms three times in one day because 1) air conditioning didn't work, 2) electrical outlet didn't work... it's a shame because it's a great location, but the management practices are better at a Motel Six... what a horrible waste

Best Restaurant in Town – It's been months since I visited the Driskill, but upon perusing CitySearch, I noticed they have a relatively low rating at the moment so I thought I'd throw my two cents in. I went with family and friends as a special treat and the only way I can describe it is "perfect." We all chose the tasting menu (as was recommended), and every single thing that was in front of me was delicious. The wines were paired excellently. One of my family members was in town from Manhattan, and she is quite the foodie.... read more

Good Decor, views, restaurent...disappointing room service – AC was not working...called up the front desk...and they wanted to fix the issue over the phone...was "instructing" us how to fix it....I attempted twice what he asked me to do...yet no success....then they sent the guy over...n sure there was some problem...he said it is now fixed....took half the night for the room to cool down.... When you charge $$$ for a room...atleast make sure everything is working.... Rest all was great..decor, views, n break fast at the re... read more

Delicious food, but pricey – Just came back from Thursday lunch at Altitude. Seven co-workers went there because one had a $25 off coupon. We did not have a reservation, but that was not a problem. The room is attractive and comfortable and the service was very good. The food was also very good. Three of us had the chicken and pasta special, which we all agreed was delicious. One person had a salad, one had the ham & cheese grilled sandwich, and two had hamburgers. Everyone agreed the food was good and we would like to go ba... read more

Bland food not worth the fancy price... – We received a coupon for $25 off to go to Altitude - and were excited to have an evening out at a four star restaurant. We ended up being very disappointed. The positive note - the service was great - it was a Wednesday night and fairly slow, so the servers were attentive. However, the food was severly lacking in flavor for the price we paid. The meals average from $25 to $40 a plate. I had the salmon veracruzana - which wasn't completely cooked in the center and had little flavor - ... read more

Beautiful historic hotel in superb location – We booked several rooms for UT graduation and were thrilled we choose someplace special. The front bellhop, valet service was efficient and friendly. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful. Trenton, the concierge, was doing a great job balancing several people at one time. He gave us great suggestions and was quite helpful. The bathroom lighting is dreadful, and I agree with a previous reviewer one has to go over by the window to put on make-up. The rooms are smallish, bu... read more

The friendliess hotel I've ever been in – I stay in a lot of hotels around the world and this is by far the friendliess staff around. As they pass they acknowlege you, if you need anything they let you know they are available, no matter what floor you are on. I've never had so many conversations in my life. It seems as if the employees enjoy working here. I haven't had any problems, it was easy check-in, easy check-out. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Disappointing stay – I just returned home from for my disappointing 30th birthday stay at the Driskill. First, our room was tiny - the bed comprised nearly the entire room - and the air conditioning obnoxiously loud. Second, the lighting in the bathroom was awful - I had to apply make-up by the window - and there was no soap in the shower. Next, my boyfriend had a detailed conversation with the lead concierge three times about where he should take me for a formal dinner. My boyfriend used the word "upscale" to describe the r... read more
