The quintessential Victorian Cape May Historic Hotel experience! Charming decor, comfortable rooms, friendly and accommodating staff, and absolutely delicious food. Lovely! A glass of wine in a rocker on the porch at the end of the day... heaven!
Didn't stay here but got drawn in by the voted best fried chicken banners flying across the beach. Had drinks on the porch which was very nice. Now dinner. Not the same experience. Ate outside. Waitress hardly spoke English. She had to show me the words on her pad. So the famous chicken is only available on the prefix option, as were the equally famous crab cakes. We just held our wedding reception at the Chalfonte and couldn't be happier. Terry was a delight to work with and the weekend was everything we hoped it would be! We look forward to returning to relive the memories!
Food was good but bordered on average for the price, wanted porch but after going to set up for us we were moved to inside . Pleasant, nice, but not sure a destination restaurant for us. solid three out of five (3 $$$)
5 Star Hotel... full of kind personnel. The hotel hosts a great deal of history going back to the Civil War. They have managed to maintain its historical value and the original building. It's like walking into our past with benefits. The food is exceptional an old southern fare with a magnificent Bar in the opposite wing. A summer porch with rocking chairs. Everyone just love the place.
Great place with a great bartender. Love the vintage items especially the pewter antique shot glasses at the bar. Someone there please sell me the pewter vintage shot glasses right meow please lol. Seriously though this is an amazing place and thier is to little of these hotels around now a days so support the hotel and try it out.
The restaurant was horrible. Worst food I ever had. Was recommended for the fried chicken cause it's the best. It was bland, and flat. Worst fried chicken I've ever had.The sides of roasted potatoes and squash with zucchini total mush and flavorless. One of the worst meals I've ever had. Wouldn't go back and won't recommend it. Only took half off my meal I only took a few bites of chicken and didn't touch the sides. Whole meal should of come off the check, not half off. What a pretentious restaurant.
