Founded in 1961, the Bitter End is New York's oldest rock club. There is no food served here, so you do not have to worry about the sounds of tinkling glasses and quaking crockery distracting the likes of Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan. Over the years, a number of big name comedians have performed here as well, including Woody Allen, George Carlin and Joan Rivers. A brick wall forms the backdrop for all these acts, including many you may not have heard about.

I love their piano and sound system. This is one of my favorite places to perform.
I've been playing here since I was 16, (oops, drinking coca cola's), When I was playing with Tim Hardin on his `comeback' tour we did 1 week at the Bitter End and sold out every night. What a beautiful experience, playing those amazing songs! At that time I had a chance to get close w/ the owner Paul Colby, a New York fixture, a wonderful person, full of great stories, and this club really is the last `Legendary Village Music Venue, this and the Village Vanguard, - if walls could talk. In NYC, as tourist, music lover, local?... read more
One of the best place i enjoyed watching the NYC School of Rock
This place is legendary. Read about its history, then go catch any performance you can. The Bitter End stays true to the music, while providing excellent service. One of my favorite places to frequent in NYC.
Awesome place with great people and music. It's a must in NY city
As a venue, it is great. However, the staff is awful. Specifically the bartender named Karen. Very rude and disrespectful, unlike any experience I've ever had at a bar. Total scam, avoid this place while the current staff is employed!!
A friend and I from out of town spent last Wednesday in the city, enjoying the holiday sights and sounds, ending up at this historic bar around 8. A minimal cover charge was asked for, apologetically, at the door. I assumed he meant per person, but it was for us both. I thought I was back in the 60's! Best bang for the buck, anywhere. The 3 bands we saw were fantastic, and one lead came over to our table after their set, thanked us for our enthusiasm, and gave us both copies of their latest cd. The atmosphere is wonderful, a... read more
We played there last Sunday (Dec. 18), and it was terrific! The sound guy knew his stuff and ran the place like clockwork, and the staff was really nice to us. Happy to have had the experience. It's one I hope to do again.
The Bitter End has always been supportive to my son, Tanner Snyder aka DrummerBoy & his bands. He has been able to perform there since, age13 because they support The Youth Arts Forum. We have alway enjoyed our time spent there in the iconic establishment. We bring a large group from Scranton, PA & have a great time. Thanks for your continued support for the arts & giving talented young artists a place to play!
