Metropolitan comes to the Triangle! – What a gem - right here in Raleigh. The decor is amazing but the food and wine stand alone. Excellent selection of menu items, antipasto to 'dine' for. Great wine selection - ask Richard for recomendations. If the menu is overwhelming ask Leslie (owner) for some pointers. While the staff are young they are enthusiastic and eager. Top marks!

The atmosphere makes TR one of those great comfort zone restaurants. The menu is big so the trick is to find the dishes you like. We have settled in to our favorites, yours might be different. Some dishes are really rich which is not our thing, but others are perfect for us. Get owner Leslie Lewis to help you pick after telling him what you like. The antipasta bar is always a great option. The wine list is great too, but we needed help knowing some of the selections. They have section for private parties, which we like in a ... read more

Pleasant surprise – This place turned out to be a great find for Raleigh. These guys did great for the prices. The decor was nice, the bench seats sucked - (not sure what the attraction for restaurants is with parking people on squashy seats so theyre forced to arch over their appetiser to talk to their dinner partner who is in turn sat on a chair). But given that the triangle is seriously lacking good Italian restaurants that are both authentic and don't have you sign over your house for the bill, this is a great improvemen... read more

highly recommended – My husband and I ate their last night, excellent choice for dinner. The food was excellent, the lamb chops were to die for as well as the angel hair carbonara. The antipasto was original and delicious! The house wine we ordered was great as well as the martinis we had. The atmosphere is relaxing and beautiful. They have outside dining where we will sit the next time we go and go we definitely will. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were very reasonable and portions big.. Great choice!!!!!

Mediocre Food in a nice wrapper – I have to say that after reading the reviews I decided to give this place a chance. I'm a sucker for Carbonara, knowing how tricky it is to make my assumption was that if it's on the menu they know how to make it. Bot was I wrong, the noodles were overdone which prevented the eggs from coating the noodles. The house Chianti was sour and served cold, so cold in fact that the smoothness was pushed aside and made this mellow Chianti a sharp acidic wine, not suitable for enjoyment. I think I'll ... read more

Great 1st Visit – My wife and I dined at Tavola Rossa tonight for the 1st time and we will definitely be going back. We haven't seen an antipasto table like theirs since Florence; we sampled some of each offering and all were tasty. The veal Saltimbocca, made in the tradtitional manner with sage, was very good. The sea bass was offered blackened, sauted or grilled; the grilled was outstanding. The wait staff was very attentive and took care of carb substitutions on both dinners. The wine steward, Rich, was very knowledgable ... read more

welcome addition – Me and my wife had a great time there last week. The building looks great - but the food and wine can definately stand on their own. Our waiter, Bobby, was helpful in leading us through the menu and antipasto table while Richard suggested a great bottle of wine. Overall it was a great time and I know we'll be back as much as possible. Try the Tiramisu.
