I signed a contract the end of 2016 for a series of children's books. I thought they were in the process of being published until all of this came out about problems with non-payment of staff, layoffs, etc. I paid thousands for my contract. Now, I don't know what to do. They have 4 manuscripts I had sent in for publication.

In publishing a first book with Tate I failed to get in writing Richard ****** promise that Tate would acquire the art work for the interior of my book. When production got underway, and I was new at this, they asked me to provide the art. I explained my deal, the design team leader said that is not in the contract. I took over the year to decide on paying this company to publish to my books. Andrea and Trinity promised me and assured me that everything would go fluidly and legally. I paid a lot of money and have gotten nothing. Only to find out through a bunch of emails that this company does all of their business out of the Philippines and are now apparently having a huge uproar because their facility in the Philippines is not good and the employees have not been paid. My book was published in Feb. Of 2016 and to this day, I have never recieved a royalty check. Even though, I know that many people have purchased it. It has been almost 1 year now and still no money made. Tate sold my book to numerous discount book stores without my permission and has never helped with any form of promotion, signings, or protected my book and it's content and images. The customer service with Tate Publishing is terrible indeed! No one return any calls. Now no one return any emails. I receive an email stating that Tate Publishing does not have any employees: "I would like to inform you that Ryan Tate does not pay his employees and your book will never be finished. He has no more employees, editors, designers, printers, but they still keep on selling and make promises that they can finish your book."

This publisher, if you want to truly call them one, is a farce and should be avoided at all costs. That`s all they amount to is a cost to everything they offer yet have not brought forth any royalties but small pittances that accomplish nothing for the author so conned into their grasp. There`s never been any documentation provided by them since my book release on Feb. 9, 2016, yet I have found it listed with some highly questionable sites and stores along with statements I " supposedly " provided blogs which I have never do... read more

My husband and I have published three book over the last few years with Tate. We have a contract outlining the percentages we will receive from sales. To date we have received one twenty-eight cent check although we have been told that our books are selling. Twenty-eight cents would not cover our percentage of one book. Obviously, they have no intention to pay us what we are due. Therefore, I write this in hopes of saving someone of being cheated.

Dr. Richard Tate is a Christian. He served as a VP of a Baptist University in the city where I live. I do not believe that his company would deliberately deal unjustly with anyone. He is publishing my second book now. I have a lifetime publishing agreement with him.
