Mediocre tourist trap – Taste of Texas is bland and kitschy compared to more sophisticated central-Houston steakhouses like Pappas Bros. The steak was adequate, but certainly nothing to brag about, and we quickly became annoyed with the frequent "Happy Birthday" choruses and "Yee-Haws" from the wait staff, as well as with the country music ballads blasting over the sound system. The salad bar was gross, the wine list sufficient but unimpressive, and the side-dishes bland. We definitely will not return.
yummy – The food is the absolute best!! The service is also excellent. We did have to wait a couple of hours to be seated, but it was also Valentines Day. Would absolutely recommend.
political – Service was slow and the steak was alright I have had better.
Yum Yum Délicieux! – This is definitely one of the best! The wait is worth it! I love the honey butter and of course the desserts!
TERRIBLE SERVICE & waste of your MONEY $ – This place has terrible service. They try to kick you out if you get there around 10:00 pm on Friday and the wait staff does not a below-average job. The food is not all that either. Don't waste your money here. Strongly suggest other steakhouses like Pappas Steakhouse where the food and service are really worth your dollars.
Disgusting – Waited 2 hours for oily gristle. Salad bar boring. Bread gross.
Waste of $$$ – Don't bother placing a reservation because they don't take them and bring your wallet. Steaks are good, but not prime. Great wine list, but not the best steak in Houston.
Great Food - Service Improving – We have dined at Taste of Texas serveral times and found the food delicious, but have always been frustrated by the service and long lines. Although after our recent visit, I am please to say they are getting the message, and are working to improve their service. We had a wonderful meal, were seated promptly and treated to a first class experience. Everything was prepared perfectly from the Lobster to the Cheesecake (the best in town) and even the Coffee. The BEST steaks around!!! – Taste of Texas deserves a '10' all around. The steaks are melt in your mouth yummy! The service is fantastic. The ambience of the restaurant especially around the holidays is very cozy and romantic.
