Delicious, high-end sushi! – The trendy decor, exceptional sushi, and superior service all made the night enjoyable for us at Takami. We went on a week night so it wasn't too crowded, but it seemed to have a loyal clientele of people who had eaten there before. The hip environment was fun, but not snobby or uncomfortable. The food was of excellent quality, and the staff did a very good job at explaining the menu items. I highly recommend Takami if you want to have a night out full of good sushi, a hip atmosphere, and good se... read more
I don't get the hype. If you think this place is good, please eat out more. – Are you kidding me?! I cannot understand all the hype of this place. The food was mediocre at best and so is the service. I'm vexed when the wait staff needs to check with the manager over questions such as "may I have some spicy mayo on the side". If you think this place's sushi is fantastic, I highly urge you to eat out more. These guys are neither trendy nor good enough to be arrogant and expect to survive, especially with the ever demanding chi... read more
Just OK – My overall rating of this place is just OK. What you are really paying for here is the ambiance, which was great just wish the sushi was the same. We made reservations for a party of 6 for my sister's bday. Our group wasnt all there so we sat the bar to have a drink. We all ordered martinis Yuzo-Berry, Mixed Berry, and White Lotus. I'd have to say mine was the tastiest of the bunch (peach vodka, juice, and strawberries) the others were bland as far as flavor. But when I ordered a 2nd one it was bland and not as fla... read more
What a great experience! – Must try at least once! I will definitely go back. Went there for a birthday for my friend and we had a blast. The food was really good! I was a little afraid after reading some comments, but our experience was great. We actually asked about the price of toro before ordering and our waiter said it was $18 or the sushi and $40 for the sashimi. We ordered it anyway and it was really good. Also, the japanese jacos, albacore sashimi, and calamari were fabulous!. I highly reccomend it. The views are stu... read more
AWESOME!!! – I live in Downtown and have been going to Katana to get my fix. This place is great. My friends and I hang out during the week for happy hour and also have dinner there. The food and service are really good. The must haves are: the sweet scallop present, spicy albacore, and crispy rice. The prices for those that are used to Katana are lower. Downtown really needed a place like this. We also head over to the lounge afterwards and there is a great crowd there on Fridays and Saturdays.
food was great, ambience was spectacular! – my girlfriend and i had dinner here for her birthday. sorry, no birthday treats available :( at anryate, the food was pretty good. a little pricey but what can you do, you're in a sushi restaurant 21 stories from the ground. however, the decor and style of the restaurant (and lounge) are top notch. views of the city are incredible as well. Come for the decor, atmosphere and view. Drinks were good too. As for food, again a little pricey, but DEFINITELY worth the trip!
Great sushi and amazing view – The view and space is amazing! My girlfriends and I hung out in the restaurant bar area and we were able to keep an eye out on the Standard. My had dinner and the sushi was really good. The prices for the regular sushi are good $5-$6 for two pieces, but some of the specialty dishes are more expensive. We knew it would be pricey... Sushi always is! We had dinner and headed over to the lounge, but it was not very crowded. Jumped over to the Standard and partied there for a while. We came back and... read more
Unfortunately AWFUL – Spicy Tuna roll came out like it was rolled by a 2 year old. I was dining with 4 people and all of our entrees came out at a different time, when we asked the waiter about it, he said that it was family style dining.. He never mentioned that when we ordered, then he said that everything comes from different kitchens, yet 3 of the 4 entrees we ordered were from the main menu... Then we did receive our food it was awful.. Duck- tough, the chilean seabass - over cooked, lamb chops - overcooked the size of ... read more
Great addition to Downtown – Not sure where the first reviewer eats but for someone who dines at restaurants such as Koi and Katana, this is not only more affordable but much less pretentious (not to mention its Downtown where I work/live). The atmosphere is great, the lounge leaves a little to be desired (the DJ on both nights I went was pretty lame but I?m not big on Rave music). The food on the other hand was magnificent! Creative and tasty! I've had a taste of the Chilean Sea Bass, Dungeness Crab, Lobster Dynamite, Popco... read more
