Yummy! – Even though the portions are small (which is common at good restaurants) it is spectacular! It is not good for large groups though, our server was very irritated with our many requests and had a hard time hearing us through all the noise. I thought at times she was even rude but the host and chef made up for it. I will go there again!
Too Little – I agree with some of the other reviews posted. The food here is good, but the portions are too small. After spending over $100, we went to Burgerville because we were still hungry. Don't be mislead by the rating of $, although it is accurate. The plates are under $20, but they are not entrees! Hopefully, restaurants will find middle ground between Super Sizing and this.
Exquisite Food, wonderful service – ...and yes, a little pricey for the AMOUNT of food you get, but not when you consider the QUALITY of the food. If you want to get completely stuffed for your $$, you would do well to go elsewhere. If you want to try 5 or 6 or 10 superbly prepared samplings, with gracious and witty service, then this is the place for you. You ALSO get to sample 3 half-glasses of wine for only $10! What fun. Wonderful! – We dined at Tabla last night with a few friends, and oh boy! What incredible food! The only thing I have a problem with were the portions and the prices of those portions. I could see spending a good amount of money there because EVERYTHING rocks! It's a great addition to NE. 28th!
We just had dinner at Tabla, and I have to say it the Duck Confit was the best I have had in a while. However the portion size doesn't fit the price. And when you consider the fact that Bread and Butter come as an appiteser, and if you want bread with your dinner they ask if you saw it on the menu, so be prepared too spend extra for the little things! So it will not be on my list of returns. Too Bad the food is very good.
Disapointed – We read the reviews before we went, but never imagined the portions would be THAT small! I ordered duck for $11 and couldn't beleive how great the prices were. Until, I received my tiny little duck leg on a plate the size of a saucer with a teaspoon of veggies. I am not exagerating! The food was good, as was the ambiance and service, but needless to say, we walked out the door $45 later looking for a place to have dinner.
ELEGANT but NOT SUFFICIENT – As an avid "home chef", I seek value when I go out to eat. I did enjoy Tabla's inventive plates, but the mini portions lack value. It is reasonable to expect Tabla to meet the "Elegant Sufficiency" standard. With three in our party, we ordered a great cross section of the menu with drinks; Tabla met the elegant criteria, but fell short in the sufficiency category. I regret to say that I won't rush back to Tabla when there are other places out there to discover.
More $ needed – Good food, but the servings are so small it's impossible to get a normal sized meal without spending at least $30-35 per person.
Delightful!!! – After stopping in from a stressful day for a glass of wine, I encountered the most friendly staff I had ever experienced; and I'm a ten year service veteran!! Three different servers offered enthusiastic suggestions, and after chatting with the very friendly bartender, Michael, I felt the day begin to melt away.
