Want to squander your paycheck and leave wishing you'd gone somewhere else? – Although the restaurant has the potential to be pretty great, the chefs seem to have made it their mission to take quality ingredients and mix them in strange combinations that, while somewhat tastey, do not live up to their intended purpose (i.e. "fine dining"). Don't get me wrong; had I paid only $30 for my meal, I might not feel so bitter about the experience. Unfortunately, my food alone cost $30. Add to this my incredibly overpriced drinks, an... read more
creme brulee problem – first of all i am a pastry chef and i know about creme brulee it is served cold would you want warm pudding? cause that is what it would be and if you put it in the fridge after you torch it the sugar on top would turn to a liquid and would be goopy... please dont be one of those tightwad retards acting like you know all i dont tell my doctor what hes doing wrong....
Capital 'D' for disappointment – I really like the concept of the three-course meal and three-glass of wine pairing. But that was where my enthusiasm for Tabla ended. While the beets were fantastic, the salad needed just a pinch of salt. However, the folks at Tabla don't put salt and pepper on the table. Perhaps chefs take offense at seeing people through the open kitchen seasoning their food, but they should get over that. And if it is an aesthetic thing, a tiny dish of sea salt is would look nice on the table. My second pl... read more
exquisite food – Wow! Best dinner I've had out in years, well since I lived in a bigger and more food oriented city actually. My friend and I each had three different courses and they were all delicious and beautifully presented. It was a lovely evening at an outside patio table with polite and attentive (but not overbearing or overly cheerful) service.
Great time at Tabla! – My family ate at Tabla to celebrate a birthday for my son 9/8. We had 5 adults in our party, we had reservations and we were seated within 5 min. Each one of us chose a different entree from the prix fixe menu. We found the service to be excellent, having brought 3 bottles of wine with us, the server was kept busy with various paourings and different types of wine glasses. Some of the dishes which we had were the lamb which had a somewhat Indian spice accompaniment, the pork which was succulent , the d... read more
Over-priced, poor service, and SMALL portions – We heard good reviews about Tabla being a cheap, yummy place to eat for a nice night out. After being seated, our waiter didn't offer us any kind of drink and did not tell us the specials. He explained about the half portions (at $13 per entree) verses the "full" portions (at $19 per entree). I decided to get a "full" duck confit entree and my husband chose the "full" scallops entree. The waiter returned with my FULL entree - a single duck wing, a piddling spoonfull of mashed p... read more
Yes, the food bar is the place to be... – With no disrespect for the dining room staff, however, it can get a bit crowded at times, and that's a good problem. Do stop in because the daily $24 three courses are quite simply the best deal in town. You select an appetizer, pasta, entree at what appears to be 1/2 servings. Regardless, without skimping on quality and ingredients, the meals come together to great surprise. Give it try and be sure to order wine to go with the predominantly Mediterranean style of cooking. Order an O... read more
Wonderful – My sister-in-law and her friend from San Francisco were visiting last month and we made reservations at Tabla for meet for dinner. Having read some of the reviews about service at the restaurant, we were a little apprehensive about picking Tabla. Any worries we had were quickly put to rest the minute we walked in the door. We were seated right away and the service from the start of the meal to the finish was excellent, just outstanding. We all decided to try the "three course for 24.00" and three of us opted for ... read more
Ridiculous! – We sat outside. Kept getting pestered by bums. Took 20 minutes to get our drink order, server didn't recognise the wine, which is unbelievable since the wine list is neither legnthy nor complex. (One good point- they don't list the wines by price; i.e. cheapest at top, most expensive at bottom.) At that time we were ready to order our dinner and did so. Another 20 minutes went by, and we finally got the wine. 10 minutes later, we got our ridiculous appetizers. $8 for a caesar with 6 leaves of lettuce? And turme... read more
