A lovely old fashioned bakery that smells like heaven when you walk in. The strawberry shortcake is a family favorite but I have enjoyed many other cakes and pastries there!!
My daughter only asked for a carrot cake for her 5th birthday from Swiss Haus. No presents, just carrot cake. I placed an order online for the cake through their online menu. I ordered it 48 hours in advance and paid for it in full, around $70. It was supposed to be delivered at 3pm for her party and lo and behold I get a text at 2:35 that the order is canceled. Kim, I’m very sorry this happened and you had such a bad experience today. Grubhub has changed the way they service restaurants for advance orders and rather then sending it to us when you placed the order, they sent it to us 45 mins beforehand. This works well for most of their restaurant partners (pizza places and whatnot, but is terrible for bakeries). Happiness. That is the one feeling you get upon walking into Swiss Haus! The smell of the treats is enough to bring you in but the service and products are what make it great. I’m not a huge fan of doing soy but stopped into the Market Street location and had a soy hot chocolate. To my surprise the taste wasn’t overwhelmingly strong and felt very smooth and rich! The Swiss Mocha (hazelnut cake) is the best. My family owned the bakery for many years and I am happy to see the new owners have continued on with the Old World European recipes that my family started. My family will continue to get our cakes from SwissHaus.

I always pickup desserts from the location on 19th street but as of 11/22/17 I will no longer give this company my $$$. I went in the Wednesday of Thanksgiving to pickup a red velvet cake. While in the line I noticed 2 or 3 cakes sitting out in the open and a female customer speaking directly over them. I politely informed one of the cashier/front desk people of the issue, he kindly said thank you and took them to the back. This is the best bakery. My family and I can not celebrate any event without a cake from Swiss! My fav is the hazelnut! Unbelievable!!!
Everything I've gotten from them is totally delicious from cookies to cakes! The folks are lovely and accommodating. A treat!
