Gone down hill... – I used to love this place in college. Returned recently and was largely disappointed. Service was lacking, tempura used in the wolfpack roll was burned and had a strong smoke flavor. I ordered the Clapton roll and it was clear to the server that it was not what I expected when it was served. Essentially, the roll was poorly executed with a cup of mayo, with some tuna and scallions on top of a california roll. The mayo was overwhelming and dominated the plate. The mayo seeped into the roll, resulting in a ... read more
Overpriced and Overrated – Why, oh WHY do my friends like to come to this place? It's always crowded, and the service is shabby. The decor is nice, but it's hard to notice that when you are elbow-to-elbow with the hipster stranger at the next table. Nothing against hipsters, mind you, but you guys have GOT to start putting as much thought into your sushi restaurants as you do your hair. The sushi is weird... The rolls are very inventive, and some of their ideas are swell, but they use way too much raw asparagus (I love aspar... read more
Not Recommended – Really...what's with the high rating?!? They have to be rating themselves. Food is not good....and the freshness?...Nope. I enjoy nigiri and sashimi normally...so I know when the fishes are good. This place is WAY overrated. I will not be dining here again. Bad service bad sushi....bad value.
Yuk. Don't bother... – YUK! Absolutely horrible everything; Sushi (what they call Sushi, anyway), Service, Attitude, Cleanliness. Don't waste you're time, you'll be sorry.
Brown rice sushi, not great service – I went to sushi blues for dinner with my friend and to avoid the wait (on a weeknight) we sat at the bar. I had to gesture to the bartender for him to serve us, after we waited longer than the number of people in the restaurant would have made understandable. once we got his attention, he was friendly, but remained generally unattentive for the duration of our meal. the sushi recommendations by the bartender were not specific to the restaurant (shrimp tempura), but for another $1 you can... read more
Excellent food, service and value – First off: I know better than to go later at night - anywhere on Glenwood then is a nightmare experience that doesn't match a 'normal capacity' time of night. I stick to getting there around 6 or so, then bouncing around Glenwood for drinks, etc. So, my experience with Sushi Blues has always been awesome. We were seated immediately by friendly staff who are knowledgeable, helpful and very up-beat. The service is fast and the sushi is excellent. A friend of mine orders brown rice in his sus... read more
Good sushi, poor value, poor service – The sushi at Sushi Blues was very good; however, there wasn't much of it. I've been to very nice sushi restaurants that charged the same price and gave a better value. Also, it always feels like you're sitting right on top of the people at the table beside you. Definitely not romantic.
overhyped, too crowded, bad attitude – Sushi Blues is way overhyped, perhaps coasting on its laurels from when it was the only game in town. Even on a non-halfprice night, the service is slow and spacy. On half-price night, it is total chaos and way too loud. Maybe that's the way the kids at State like it.
Absolutely horrible; starting with the parking and ending with the food. – I work at a Sushi Restaurant around the triangle. I went to Sushi Blues on Tuesday night and the hostess told me 2 hours before they closed that they weren't taking anymore names on the wait list. So I decided to give it a shot on Thursday night, the hostess told my friend that we probably wouldn't be able to get sat since the wait was so long and we arrived at 10:30. I asked if I could go get something to drink and come back, so she said that was fin... read more
