I were in the pediatric ED last night with my 19 month old. Our care was great. Unfortunately, due to being discharged at 2am, I accidentally left behind his stuffed puppy. When I called this morning, I was told that the cleaning guy THREW IT OUT!!! I AM BEYOND UPSET. I cannot believe this is how the hospital staff deals with children's toys left behind, as anyone with common sense knows how children are with their favorite toys. I could seriously cry
The CPEP Unit is unsafe. On September 9, 2013, CPEP staff allowed a homicidal patient to use their phone to make death threats on multiple occasions, thereby endangering the safety of other people in the CPEP Unit at the time and exposing those people to risk of imminent harm. The gross negligence of the CPEP staff resulted in a Complaint being filed with the New York State Department of Health, which issued a report faulting Strong Memorial Hospital on numerous emergency procedures. Mixed feelings. Mostly good with the exception of the Emergency Services. The Emergency Rapid Intake waiting area is very small for the amount of patients that come in. Also some nurses in Rapid Intake are down right rude and sarcastic. Back in the Emergency Bed area it's a crap shoot as to what level of service you receive. Patient engagement and response times seem to very depending on which staff was on duty. Loved the pediatric emergency but the fact they had a busted outlet near a bed in the room she was in disgust me. How they can have a busted outlet that moves. One piece of the outlet was broken and can see inside the wall.
The people at the most part were very helpful they did their best. Very understaffed. Was in the emergency department for 20 hours. No rooms were available for my mother. We got at 12:30 Wednesday and it is 8 AM Thursday and she is still waiting to be admitted from the ER to the hospital. Overcrowded no rooms.
I don't like to be a complainer but a chemo patient with low to no immunities should not have to sit in critical care e d surrounded by potential harmful viruses Especially when her oncology team was informed of her eminent arrival, the danger she was in was perhaps almost as bad as not coming in at all
