5 Star all the way! After living in Durango for 40 years, we finally spent the night in the Strater. After a surprise birthday party in the Diamond Belle Saloon, a rip roaring Happy Birthday song from the entire Saloon, and a party in the loft with family and friends, we learned that we were spending the night in the Louie L'Amour Suite, compliments of our grandkids, Krii & Paul Black... RecommendedWonderful restored hotel with lots of charm, friendly and accommodating staff as well as great food and entertainment. This was our fourth visit and it is the place to stay in Durango.
A must go when your in Durango. Feels like your in the 1800s food is fabulous
My daughter and I came to spend some time in the quant little town of Durango. We booked our room via Expedia for five nights (Jan 7-12). We arrived early so we checked our bags and took a stroll down Main Street. There are so many places to eat and shop downtown. Once we were able to check in, we took the closet (elevator) to the third floor, room 300. We were pleased with the room. It was cozy and warm. The views were nice as well. Yes a historic place to be in if you like that way. The surrounding is excellent and right in the center of the town walking 🚶 distance of 5-10 mins to train station. The hotel has restaurant which is excellent and reasonable. The rooms are ok size as the setup does not leave any place to move around except to sit on a bed or chair. This is for a classic room. There is absolutely nothing in the room. No Refrigerator or microwave or coffee place. If you stay go prepared. Staff is nice. Overall good experience
Great place to stay but don't be in a hurry to get up and down the elevator, or have ease of moving your luggage in or out of the building.
This is one of the best hotels in America. Hospitality is awesome!
