The vast majority of patients can be treated successfully without surgery. Conservative treatments often include physical therapy, medication, traction, injections, and chiropractic care. When these measure fail, surgery is sometimes the final step. Patients are understandably scaredof the prospect of surgery. Manyare worried about painful and prolonged recovery, as well as permanent scarring. It is because of these valid concerns of patients, that many surgeons have intensely investigated less invasive ways of treating back... read more

I had 4 MRI in 2010 & had already seen two Neurosurgeons who told me the MRI shows only minor bulging so they couldn't help me, Dr. Anagnost was the third Neurosurgeon, he told me the same thing at first but I told him I was in agonizing pain & it was definitely more than minor bulging & I needed his help, he said he believed me, then said just because a particular test doesn't find the problem that doesn't mean there isn't a problem, he recommended a 4 level discogram, I did that & it showed C5-C6 disc's were full thickness... read more
I have had two surgical experiences with Dr. Anagnost. Both times recovery went very well. The first surgery was to stop severe muscle spasms in my right leg, below the knee. The spasms stopped. This was a few years ago. Eight months ago he performed a second surgery. It was on my lower lumbar. For two months previous I was in so much pain I couldn't even cry. My surgery was outpatient. He scraped out arthritis, removed bone spurs and replaced the missing pads that cushion the vertebra. One month after my surgery my family t... read more
If there was a rating less than one star I would use it. An outpatient surgery with a 4 week recovery time resulted in 7 months of no work, a hospital stay to save my leg and months of pain, and money I shouldn't have had to spend. So your research before using this doc! I sure wish I would have.
I had minimally invasive lower spine L4-L5 fusion surgery. From the minute I woke up from anesthesia, I no longer had lower back pain or leg pain. The surgery was an outpatient procedure and I left the hospital about 4 hours after I had arrived. I am walking more than 25 minutes every morning with no pain. I am so very pleased with Dr. Anagnost's minimally invasive spine surgery.
He did 2 or 3 or my surgeries, cervical spine, at Hillcrest and he never listened to me , always knew what I felt or what was wrong, I didn't even need to be there. I nicknamed him 'god' bc that's how he acted. I developed a clot at one incision on front or side of my neck...I called several times, and they said don't worry, he said not to come in..it got so big that my girlfriend took me to ER and they were shocked! It was like a orange (I'm exaggerating only a little) and people would gasp, so ER ordered me to go see him, ... read more
In 2012, I started having severe lower back pain. I had heard horror stories about having back surgery, so I was very concerned. I met Dr Anagnost, through another Orthopedic Doctor and a very close friend working as a PA, in the Tahlequah office. The pain was extreme and I had no quality of life. I wasn’t able to have, the minimal invasive surgery, creating even more anxiety. Dr Anagnost, was very supportive, caring and explain every detail, of the surgical procedure. I had a L-4 and L-5 Lamenectomy, and 4 cages, with cadav... read more
Over 15 years ago, Dr. Anagnost performed L5 microdiscectomy and gave me back the ability to walk. Recently he properly diagnosed an SI Joint problem and I am in recovery from a successful fusion of that joint relieving my back and leg pain. Dr. Anagnost is a caring, extremely competent surgeon. He took great care of my wife too. Highly recommend you talk with him if you are in pain. He always prefers to take a conservative, minimally invasive approach wherever possible. Dr. Anagnost is a pioneer in the minimally invasive su... read more
Dr. Anagnost is a life saver! I heard about him from a co worker. Once I set up an appointment Dr. Anagnost quickly diagnosed my issue. He was very informative on the routes I could take and what he recommended. The guy knows what he is doing. Im so thankful to have found this ethical great dr. I had a spinal fusion and a laminectomy. Once I woke up from the procedure I could immediately tell my left foot had more feeling in it. My entire left leg felt so much better and as for the fusion. I could feel the strength back in m... read more
I had let my pain change the person I was…I felt ashamed and like I had let my wife down because I was not the man she fell in love with. Last Christmas my right arm and shoulder went numb and stayed numb. I would have massive bruises and not ever feel them. It scared the hell out of me! At that point the orthopedic dr ordered mri. He couldn’t believe the results, mainly because I am only 40. He told me that He could not help me due to it being out of his area of expertise but referred me to Dr Anagnost. Dr Anagnost immediat... read more
