Dr. Alter is an excellent doctor! We couldn’t have had a better doctor taking care of my mother. He took care of getting OT & PT through Tufts care at home and answered all of our questions. When we would arrive at the office everyone was caring and friendly. We would wait no longer than 5 minutes at the most to be called in. We highly recommend Dr. Alter.

This journey started at one of the more prominent orthopedic facilities in New Hampshire that really dropped the ball. Got a word of mouth recommendation and made an appt. Busy spot, so it's in the best interest to get there early. A quick xray (along with my MRI disc)set the table for Dr. Alter, as well as his fantastic RN-Assistant who jumped in when things were getting busy. She was great in explaining everything, while not the greatest of news, she took the time to ease me and show her extensive knowledge. Dr. Alter came... read more

Dr Alter was amazing. Very knowledgable . Some might like a more personable Dr, I want a good technical Dr that has great knowledge and expects hard work from the patient to get them back to normal.

I went in with an xray of a broken ankle and a referral from my PCP. I was in pain and he spent 3 min with me and said we will just say you have tendonitis! I asked about wearing the boot (which didnt fit!) and when and he said “whenever you feel like it”. no specifics and super vague! Awful manner with me. Yet he went into the patient across the hall and spent plenty of time with him since he rushed out of my visit. I got a second opinion and myankle fracture was treated appropriately. Bad doctor!! stay away!

He wanted to do a shoulder replacement on my 89 year old mother in poor health. Also, I was scheduled to have surgery by Dr. Alter and he cancelled my surgery without telling me. I had to find out when I went to my pre-op hospital appointment. At the time I was seeing an oncologist. Which proved to be nothing. The oncologist cleared me for surgery. However, after speaking with Dr. Alter receptionist, she claimed Dr. Alter spoke with the oncologist and he, oncologist, didn't clear me. After speaking with the oncologist, he sa... read more

I have had the pleasure of being treated by Dr Alter for both a car accident and a freak accident where a vase nearly cut my finger off. He was correct in his treatment both times and any of these bad reviews it's probably on them because he really is the best and he knows what he's doing. He's great. Furthermore I was misdiagnosed at the Mass general and he figured it out before they did.

I saw Dr. Alter for a fractured hand. In the many visits I made to his office, he gave me little to no information (usually handed me a brochure), he never asked me how I was feeling, and he usually lets his assistant do most of the appointment who is unfortunately similarly brief. They are pulling so many people through that they have no time to spend on anyone. To this office, you are just a number, and you'll get no information or compassion. I would not recommend him at all.

Dr Alter saw me at his office after I fell at work. He told me I would most likely need a reverse shoulder procedure, but if during surgery he thought he could repair my own shoulderd, he would try to do the best he could for me. Well, he did repair my shoulder during the surgery. I went home one day after surgery and went back to work sooner than expected. I am very grateful for his care. My last visit was today. I do not have to go back.

I fractured my elbow skiing and Dr. Alter's care and attention to detail throughout treatment prevented a need for expensive reconstructive elbow surgery. I'm extremely grateful to be back out on the slopes only 6 weeks after the initial injury with zero complications!
