He is very soft-spoken, but takes the time to listen to what your saying. Has a great bedside manner as does all of his staff. Had carpal-tunnel surgery on both hands and the results were wonderful with no side-effects. I would highly recommend him!!!
I had 2 surgeries on my finger, so I was in and out of Dr. Alter's office for a whole year, I was so happy with the way I was treated from everyone in the office. Everything from scheduling to insurance, x-rays, nurses and Dr. Alter and his NP Roula I couldn't have asked for better treatment. Dr.Alter was amazing I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone. I was was made to feel very comfortable in a situation that was a little nerve racking. Bottom line I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Alter!
Excellent! Very skilled surgeon. Not the best bedside manners until he gets to know you because he doesn't "beat around the bush" but puts the facts right up front. I would absolutely request him if I or any of my family members had a hand, finger or wrist injury.
Dr. Alter has a terrible bed-side manner, is rude, changes his treatment plan often but blames you for not being consistent, and is very reluctant to educate you on your problem or his choices (even when you make a choice). He hardly makes eye contact and had no interest in answering your questions. If you want a regular tongue-lashing in addition to the pain you're already suffering he will not disappoint.
Dr. Alter was no nonsense and very efficient in my interaction with him. He told me the pros and cons of the operation and allowed me to decide. What I liked the best was that he was on time and did not keep me waiting. He appeared when the appointment was scheduled and he got me out of the office with a minimum of delay. My operation was a success with a very good recovery and for that I am appreciative.
He is all business; excellent care. I needed to see a specialist now for a hand (non-dominant side) problem so was thankful I had known him from a previous injury (fractured humerus and ulna on my dominant side): a complex injury that I sometimes wonder if I'd have recovered so well from if I had received treatment from another orthopedic surgeon. I've regained complete function of the affected arm and hand, following his surgical and post-op treatment.
Dr. Alter was rude, lacked a bedside manner, personality and was not sensitive to any of my concerns. I felt as if I was interrupting his day by having him examine me. I don't feel like he fully looked into my concerns and brushed it off my symptoms. I will proceed a more professional doctor.
Professional and thoughtful.
Dr Alter performed bilateral (both hands at once) carpal tunnel surgery in Nov 2105. During the consultation, Dr Alter was very clear on the pros and cons of bilateral surgery and I decided that I wanted to have both hands corrected at the same time and not drag it out over 2+ weeks.Overall I am very pleased with the procedure, Dr Alter, the results and the decision to have bilateral done, eliminating another visit to the operating room and speeding up recovery.
