Absolutely, hands down, the BEST breakfast in the area. I'm embarrassed to say, I've lived in Hamden for nearly 30 years and only discovered this place about 6 months ago. I've been here 3 times for breakfast and each time was perfect! Next time, I'd like to have one of their lunch salads, which sound lovely.
My family and I come here quite regurlarly. I have 4 grandkids ages 8,7 and 3 yr old twins. The majority of the time is a great experience the staff is very welcoming to the kids and patient. I know not everyone has the patience when kids are involved but like I said most of the time is a positive experience. By far, the best diner in the state. I travel from Hartford just to have a great breakfast here. Perfect every time.
The veggie omelet was delicious. The service was so fast. The food is fantastic. We will definitely be back.
I love dining here. It's easily one of the best diners in Connecticut. They had me the first time with Oreo pancakes. Yesterday I got further pulled in with thick bacon eggs benedict. The people are terrific and I can't wait to go back.
This has been the third time to State Street Cafe with my daughter and grandson. The hostess sat us in a booth never gave us menus. The waitress came to our booth ten minutes later and asked us what we would like to drink. Our coffee was brought to us our coffee five minutes later, after 20 minutes of waiting and watching the waitress take orders from people who came in after us we decided to leave. A gem! Excellent food, friendly service. We have had the blueberry pancakes, French toast, California Benedict...all delicious. Best diner around.
