I switched from the New Britain Starling OB-GYN. I was looking for the midwifery model of care for pregnancy/labor/birth and I couldn’t have been more pleased. My goal was to avoid an epidural this time around and we did it! (With a little help from nitrous oxide at the end). I love as well that I got to meet all the midwives so that I was familiar with whoever delivered my baby. Big thanks to the entire team.
This is a review for the front desk only. Dr. Mack and her assistant were awesome and I have no complaints there. However, today on my first appointment here the front desk worker was not very polite or empathetic. I arrived 25 minutes early to give myself plenty of time to find my way and get situated. I'm disabled, so new environments can be difficult to navigate and I know I'm slow. I have been a long time patient of starling physicians and I am beyond frustrated with how I was treated today. I recently had a appointment for 9:30am, however I was pulling in parking lot at 9:31am and reached the front desk at 9:32 and 55 seconds. They informed me that they needed to start promptly at 9:30 am and would need to reschedule. Now I have been there for over 15 years and I have NEVER had a prompt start time. I’ve been going there for my pregnancy and I have had an amazing experience every single time. From the front desk, medical assistants, ultrasound tech, and the midwifes, everyone has been so nice and wonderful. I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else! Plus it’s a beautiful and clean office.
I really wanted to love this practice, but my experience here so far has fallen short. To preface, the care I received during my first pregnancy was through a birth center in Nashville so my expectations were already unrealistic. But I didn't know there would be concerning barriers to getting bare-minimum prenatal care... I started my pregnancy seeing With Women's Wellness, but had to switch for insurance reasons.
