I usually don’t write reviews, but my experience at St. Rita’s Emergency Department still haunts me even after two months, and I hope sharing it brings attention to the issue. I visited the emergency department with my 5-day-old baby, who weighed only 5.2 lbs and had jaundice. Our pediatrician advised us to admit her for phototherapy, but the ED staff said her temperature was low and ordered several blood tests. Unfortunately, the process was extremely distressing. I came in with what I knew was food poisoning and severe dehydration. My concerns were promptly ignored and the immediate hounding about getting a flu test shoved up my nose began. Even after a clear, healthy x-ray of my lungs were taken the lead doctor still harassed me about a flu test. I agreed to any flu test that wasn't the one that was going up my nose to which the condescending doctor told me that "that's not how this works". I have never been so dehumanized in a hospital. All went well, everyone was courteous and polite and helpful. One girl needs more training with helping older people in and out of their crazy wheel chairs! Only thing I didn’t like was the 2 plus hour wait to return to the nursing home in Delphos, Ohio.
Wait time was short at the time I went, but was very appalled at the fact that they couldn't even bother to put me in an actual room when I was having pain in my ribs and could barely move without them hurting. I was forced to sit in an uncomfortable chair in the hallway. Honestly, not sure if this place was just as bad, if not worse, as death valley hospital in Findlay.
