The ferry takes passengers, autos, RVs, tour buses, motorcycles, bicycles, and commercial trucks across Lake Michigan between Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin from mid-May through mid-October.

Even if this crossing didn’t save the drive around Chicago, it would still be wonderful, efficient, and economic. Decent food & drink options, lots of seating, and everything better than flying.
It was a very good trip from Ludington to Manitowoc. From the Capitan on down, the crew was very knowledgeable and courteous. I recommend that everyone take a trip on the SS Badger.

It was our first time as a family taking the SS Badger from Ludington, MI to Manitowoc, WI on our way back from vacation in MI. We drove on our way there by car, which was always our way of transportation to or through MI, but this time decided to do something different. It was a very exciting experience, yet I don't recommend it for someone who has motion sickness or sea sickness. We always have a great time on the Badger. It saved 8 hours of driving time on our trip to Niagara Falls.
