About this business

On May 3, 1912 ( 3 weeks after the sinking of the Titanic ) Frank & Rose Snock opened the 1st Snockey's at 142 South St. in Philadelphia. Rose Snock was pregnant at the time as fate would have it, she gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Jean, on the 2nd floor of their newly opened oyster house. Get there early for raw oysters! Shrimp were lousy tho!

I decided to try this place as a Fb recommendation as. The mussels we good. Drinks were over priced and did not offer a decent happy hour to make me consider inviting friends. I called ahead to find out about all you can eat crabs as suggested they confirmed on the phone, yet upon ordering they didn't offer blue crabs the waitress and bar tender werent aware. The Snockeys crab fries were ok but it was difficult to manage eating the fries and crab meat together it was either The fry or crab meat. The service was slow and not ... read more
