I had a pain in my knee that had been off and on for almost a year until it finally became unbearable. My first visit w/Dr. Smith wasn’t even with him, but with one of the other associates, who was great! My x-rays were good. The associate advised I have PT first, and if I still had the pain after that then to go back to their office to receive an MRI. Having relocated from California to Texas in May 2020 I needed to find a whole new group of doctors and in 2022 I had a need for seeing an Orthopedic Dr and Dr Smith was recommended by my primary doctor Luis Egelsee. The difference between military/ VA care compared to Dr Smith is night and day. I would choose him over ANYONE I've seen... I had a minor surgery after a major one with him...and would rather have him perform another one anyday!
I recently saw him for my arthritic knees & to have steroid shots for the pain. He discussed my X-rays & severity of my arthritis. Took the time to explain all my options and when to consider knee replacement. He has also replaced both hips. I have been a patient of his for 10+ years & trust his diagnosis. The doctor was condescending and rude. His pompous attitude did not encourage my trust in his ability.
I recently saw Dr. Smith for cortisone shots in both knees to help with my arthritis. However he gave me realistic advice in such a kind manner letting me know the shots wouldn’t help and I needed knee replacement surgery instead, which is scary to consider. He went over every detail for before, during and the recovery process and answered all my questions and concerns in a way that left me feeling hopeful and optimistic and assured. I’m in such pain after my recent knee injections. When I get my injections I feel soooo great and look forward to them, but this time I got my shots and it was like nothing happened. When I complained, Dr Smith said my arthritis had worsened. Not true! I had just been X-rayed and the tech said my knees had not worsened during the past year. Dr Smith only saw me once years ago. Dr Scott Smith is very fast & professional.He took my concerns seriously.He went right to the point to diagnose my right knee from MRI.He explained about the shots & long term benefits about the knee replacement..He & his staff were friendly.Jerry Lopaz(PA)is very friendly too.I feel very comfortable having Dr Scott Smith as my Surgeon!!!
