This is the worst run apartment building in Uptown. Elevators have broken down nearly every single month since January. Management is incompetent. Violent crime is particularly elevated in the area. Two shootings within the last three months and one dead body (heroine OD) on the property. Management has not provided on site security. This was one of the worst renting experiences of my life. It’s difficult as to where I should begin, because there wasn’t anything good about this property. To start, there are three main elevators at Skyhouse (I was in the south tower), at any given time, typically two out of the three elevators were broken. To make matters worse, there have been times when all three elevators were down (I lived on one of the top floors). Just moved here from NYC and I have to say I like the place it’s nice friendly and clean.
I have been a resident at Skyhouse for about a year now. When I first moved in, it was great. But over the last 4 months it been going downhill fast. First off the elevators are always broken and you cannot take the stairs to your apartment. I work 10-12 hours a day and when I come home I do not like waiting 30 minutes for the one elevator that is working that day. Next thing, there's only one way to the elevators so, when everyone is waiting for the elevators it bottlenecks and get very crowded. Plus, some of the units are ... read more
I moved in January and the community here is great. I have met a lot of other resident's through their mixers. Living in the same building with so many friends makes it feel truly special. Also construction is solid concrete unlike many other wood stick build mid rises so noise is never an issue. One Caveat to Management: FIX THE ELEVATORS!! Having to wait to come home or leave is annoying though this has only happened a few times.
This place is great for your first apartment in Charlotte. I just moved in about 6 months ago and this place checked all the boxes. The staff is friendly for the most part, the Event Team is very engaging and creative. Now are there better apartments out there? Yes, but this place has everything you are looking for, especially if you are in a pinch. Knowing more about Charlotte now, I still would have picked SkyHouse first again.
I have met some amazing people, the new events have been so much fun and it makes it easy to network and make new friends as a new resident to Charlotte.
I moved to Skyhouse with my fiancé just over a year ago, and our time here couldn't be better. The building is super safe (key access parking and building and elevator) and the CARES team is always doing great events like margaritas & tacos, super bowl wings & beer, brunches and more. The leasing staff and maintenance are really responsive and will do whatever is necessary to make you feel at home. Definitely 10/10!
