About this business

Shinsei, famous for its interactive sushi bar, is run by the renowned duoTracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing. The contemporary restaurant was designed with a Texas flair and incorporates bright colors in green and yellow hues. With the addition of habanero mayonnaise, Maui onions, hibiscus vinegar, and jalapenos, these peppy creations add a kick to the normal sushi rolls. Land lovers have quite a few options as well with pork and beef tenderloin options and more. Finish on a sweet note and savor the cherry tart or the cake with ... read more

I've never been so hungry and so insulted! – Our party of six checked in with the hostess a few minutes after 7 on a Wednesday night. We were quoted a forty-five minute to an hour wait and told it probably wouldn't even be that long. After patiently spending an hour and ten minutes fetching our own drinks from the bar, we were told that it would be a while longer and we should order some appetizers from our cocktail waitress. Up to then we didnt even know we had a cocktail waitress. After an hour and a half the owners apolog... read more

a bad time saved by great service – saturday night, my husband and i are sushi novices to say the least but as this restaurant had a lot of buzz we decided to give it a try. we were told when we called that they didnt take reservations but when we got there there where at least ten empty tables and they quoted us one hour before we could get a table, my husband was incensed but it talked him into staying and we went to the bar and that is where the experience turned a full 180 for the better. we got to talking to the bartend... read more

super busy, but awesome experience, sit upstairs for unique perspective – if this is not the best priced best tasting sushi restaurant in town, i don't know where is. we arrived on a saturday evening at about 7 as walkins expecting to eat at the restaurant that was in the space before, another sushi restaurant, the wait was nearly 1.5 hours but we with the help of a great waiter upstairs completely bypassed the wait and found one of the tables in the upstairs lounge over looking the hostess area. the service was amazing, try... read more

Sushi one of the worst in town, but I will give their entrees a try next time... – The ambience, drinks and service were great. However, the sushi was terrible. We tried the spicy tuna, caterpillar, california and salmon sashimi and it was all sub par. The sashimi was not tender, and mainly chewy tough. The rest of the rolls were a bit too fishy, we believe it was the crab. I thought it was funny that the rolls were way more fishy than my sashimi. However, the dinner specials sounded gooded. I do believe I will go back and o... read more

Celebrity chef spouses Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing operate this pan-Asian fusion restaurant and sushi bar near Park Cities. – The Scene Contemporary paintings, mid-century-mod fixtures and a daring forest-green-acid-yellow-taupe color scheme lend drama to an essentially homey restaurant. Photos of the Rathbun and Fearing kids adorn a rear wall. Quotes and original artwork memorialize late local artist Scott Barber. An upstairs lounge accommodates overflow from the main dining room. The Food Outstanding dishes draw on fam... read more
