Shinsei, famous for its interactive sushi bar, is run by the renowned duoTracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing. The contemporary restaurant was designed with a Texas flair and incorporates bright colors in green and yellow hues. With the addition of habanero mayonnaise, Maui onions, hibiscus vinegar, and jalapenos, these peppy creations add a kick to the normal sushi rolls. Land lovers have quite a few options as well with pork and beef tenderloin options and more. Finish on a sweet note and savor the cherry tart or the cake with ... read more

Sadly dissapointed – My husband and I are avid foodies. Our favorite Dallas restaurant is Abacus. I was so excited to try Shinsei, especially after seeing some of the great things Casey had prepared on Top Chef. We had an early 6pm reservation and even though the place was empty the hostess wanted to give us the worst table in the place, a table right by the bar, so that we would be looking at hindquarters all evening. She actually sighed when I asked for another table. Our server was sloppily dressed and basically threw the... read more
Worst Customer Service – Going to Shinsei will be the biggest mistake, I would not recommend this restaraunt to anyone it is a small over-crowded restaraunt with the worst service I have ever experienced. I went there this past weekend and even after making reservations had to wait for over an hour, and even at that time they didn't have enough room for our whole party. Yet when we had made reservations over three weeks ago we were told that they could accomodate us. So after going through so much effort and even pre-orderin... read more
Good Value Exeptional Service, an overall good time. – we went to Shinshei for the third time several saturdays ago and chose to sit at the back bar in the downstairs part of the restaurant as the wait was near 1 hour and i was starving. we always love the food, and consider ourselves avid sushi eaters and shinshei is on our rotation from now on because of the phemonemal service we received from the bartender kelly, he while serving drinks for the cute waitresses, walked us through the entire meal including sake tastings and... read more
Crowed on the weekends, but great Monday & Tuesday nights – I am surprised at some of the reviews. I go to Shinsei at least once a week and love it! The Elvis Mack sashimi is incredible and so is the new pressed sushi they offer. The vibe & energy is great and the service is very friendly. If you like spicy food, the Jalapeno Poppers are very hot, but very addictive. Also, the Ginger Limeade is so tasty. Fresh ginger and limes...I would recommend anyone who hasn't tried Shinsei in at least the past few months to go. They are... read more
Less than Mediocre Sushi - Park Cities can do better – I ate here about six months ago so maybe it has gotten better (looking at the past two reviews) or maybe the owners/managers are on here doing damage control. Either way, my experience was not good. First of all the, the hostess was surly and snotty. Our waitress was nice enough but when I am paying a lot of money for sushi I expect it to taste better than what I can get in the sushi case at central market. I ordered spicy tuna, I think (obviously nothing memorable). It ... read more
best sushi bar in dallas. – I absolutely love this restaurant. I was first turned on to it by a close friend who eats there quite often. I was instantly blown away by the interior of the restaurant, everything is beautiful. The paintings, the arrangements, even the people who work there always look their best. The best part about Shin Sei though is definately the food. The shin sei roll is amazing and is my favorite. Even the water is great and unique, they cut a cucumber and place it in there for a little kick. I definately... read more
great experience – I have eaten at Shinsei many times since it first opened. It is a place I feel comfortable eating alone or with friends and family. The food is delicious and the interior design absolutely gorgeous. Every time I have been in, one of the owners--either mrs. fearing or mrs. rathbun--has come over to my table to ensure I am having a wonderful experience. And while I am a regular, I have watched them try to visit each and every table. These women, for me, make the place what it is. Any restaurant can have a be... read more
Great food; nice atmosphere – We dined at Shinsei three times this week. The food was excellent. The spring rolls were delectable. The big eye tuna sashima was very fresh and the tempura calamari were excellent. Overall, our experience at Shinsei was at the top of the list. We had the pleasure of being served by three different waitresses. However; we highly recommend Tammy. Make sure you ask for her when you visit Shinsei. Bryan & Mersing
Lip service – Mine may not be typical, but nevertheless I feel it needs to be said. We dined a few days after Christmas and the experience was much anticipated. Our order was placed and all was well until the food arrived. We ordered food from both the kitchen and the sushi bar. The food from the kitched came out accordingly, however the sushi never came out. Out of a part of 4, one of which was to eat mostly sushi, I sat with my party mostly watching. Our server a young man, was cordial and made every attempt to keep me inf... read more
