Some people prefer modern restaurants with wall mounted tanks filled with exotic fish. They expect Art Deco lighting and chairs made more for the sake of art, than comfort. Well, we’re old fashioned. Thick wood beams, with over two hundred years of wear, stretch from ceiling to the floor. Our sturdy tables and chairs remain for their comfort, to craddle you while enjoying a delicious meal. A no frills atmosphere will keep you content, and coming back from more. With age comes experience.

We are from the north shore of Massachusetts so we are used to really good seafood. We were pleasantly surprised by the food at the Shanty.
The main thing I can say about this is it is about as close to great seafood as your gonna get.
Been waiting for lunch for 1/2 hour after ordering and still no lunch Finally got food 45 min. Not worth the wait. Will not be going back.
Yum and yum and service with a smile. Tried the clams with bellies they were great, tried the chowdah that was also great. There was no complaint from the crew I was with
Made the mistake of ordering whole belly clam lunch basket for $20. Clams were great! All 5 1/2 of them! Very disappointed. Told the server, she responded "we hear that all the time". Would have been nice to be warned you were paying near 4 bucks a clam.
Dinner was great and our server, Sarah, was polite and attentive.
