Some people prefer modern restaurants with wall mounted tanks filled with exotic fish. They expect Art Deco lighting and chairs made more for the sake of art, than comfort. Well, we’re old fashioned. Thick wood beams, with over two hundred years of wear, stretch from ceiling to the floor. Our sturdy tables and chairs remain for their comfort, to craddle you while enjoying a delicious meal. A no frills atmosphere will keep you content, and coming back from more. With age comes experience.

A friend and I had the pleasure of dining at the Shanty and the only dark spot was Tina's feelings towards the bloody Mary they served.. Which they took back without any issues.. my Martini's were perfect.. we ordered the Rhode Island style Calimari.. MMM that was so yummy.. for dinner Tina had a baked platter with the Mac & Cheese side.. ps.. Dang near the best thing you can eat.. the platter had fish shrimp and scallops.. it was delicious.. Ordered lobster bisque, crab cake dinner, and salmon/shrimp/scallop w herbed butter. We travel all over for work and always pick local restaurants to have dinner, hence our choice fpr The Shanty. Lobster bisque was so watery i could've drank it w a straw .. also had no lobster Crab cakes were freezer burned obviously not homemade...inedible to the point that i returned them. Seafood w butter was ok... my comment was "it's like I'm eating a frozen Fisherman Gordons meal". Definetly not what i was hoping for with such a fantas... read more

Very nice experience with a great view. Probably the best New England Clam Chowder I have ever eaten! Excellent service and great food! I will be back on my next visit to Vermont.
I am from California it's my first time visit here. I love losbster soup! It's best ever I have! I will always come back someday when I come visit again :)
We had a meal there last night and it was delicious. I have been to the Shanty on the Shore so many times and never had a bad meal. Salmon, Shrimp and Lobster are all good. And the service was great. You will enjoy your meal for sure.
