I moved here 3 1/2 yrs ago from TN. Scott & White has been such a blessing to me. My health has greatly improved since being here. EVERYONE I've met has been so kind & courteous to me & treated me like I mattered to each & Everyone. I think it should be mandatory for every hospital in the country spend time training here & learn how to treat patients from the richest to the poorest. Nurses tend to be VERY condescending, talk to parents like they are stupid. Day nurse contradicts night nurse and vice versa. Really hard to not speak to them the way they speak to me. Dr Ballard was very nice, helpful, with a full explanation. Id like to go on record as saying :just because i am a male, does NOT make me ignorant as to how to care for infants/newborns.
Normally It's pretty quick. Yesterday I was there 8 hours and nothing was figured out. When I left the waiting room was full and it had people in wheel chairs and IV's.
Had a report time for an 1100 appointment at 1045, checked in at 1030. At 1130 was still waiting. Drove 35 miles to get to sit in a waiting room for an hour. Clerk said he did not know what happened. Cancelled the other appointment I had and left. Really great service. Has been going down hill ever since Baylor got involved.
I prefer Scott and White to the other hospitals because they actually care about me and listen. I went to Metroplex in Killeen and the girl that was trying to draw my blood blew my veins in 8 different places before she finally decided to call someone for help. I cannot go there anymore. I will take that 30 minute drive over the 6 minutes to Temple any day if it's gonna save my life. But yeah, Scott and White is cleaner, their equipment is better and they're more professional.
Quickly analyzed, stabilized ,discharged. They recommended that I see my family doctor..
I waited 3 hours before I was seen. The nurse in charge came out and explained why the wait was so long, and even told us she was using trauma rooms and dividing them with two different beds so more people could be seen. I was told I would get pain meds and nausea meds due to just having surgery, and I was having complications, yet I never received them. I was there in the ER from 8pm -6am before I was released.
