Very nice place to take a leisurely walk in the desert. Picnic area and camping too.
Beautiful park, very well maintained. There are lots of interesting rock formations, native plants and wildlife to photograph. Great hiking trails too!
My favorite lookout area for sunsets and the beauty of our little town from afar.
Got there around 9:45am and tried to enter the gate by the picnic tables ... it was locked! Park volunteer showed up around 15 mins later and let us in. Other than that it was a beautiful day hike. Lots of wildflowers. The trail soil in some areas was sandier than expected. Almost like walking at the beach. All in all... a nice little desert gem in the Antelope Valley.
Beautiful spring flowers in March 2017, no crowds, great hike to peak with awesome views!
Saddleback Butte State Park is definitely desert camping, but the wildflowers are starting. There was running water, a windbreak, shade cover, and a picnic table at each site. The Camp Host, Barb, came out to great us, and was a great addition to the park. The draw back was the road noise, bring ear plugs. We hiked up the Butte where there are wonderful views. The Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve was the highlight of the trip!!
Saddleback Butte State Park has a 4.6 star rating with 64 reviews.
