Dark, cozy, elegant and intimate, Russian Tea Time has only been here since 1993, however it has since become a Chicago treasure. Inside the elegant Mahogany and Birch dining room, the kitchen serves specialties from the former Soviet republics which includes every where from Tajikistan to Belarus. The atmosphere was enjoyable, the food portions were just right and the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall a lovely evening and experience.
They got us in even without a reservation. Lovely staff.
Every single bite was amazing. We had the sampler plate for two. Well worth it and we got to try most of the menu in the process.
Anytime I go to the Art Institute, I have dinner here, especially when the it's chilly outside and hearty food is a must. Actually, I try to finagle a dip inside anytime I'm out in the Loop. Skip the wine list because you cannot miss the black currant tea and, omg, the bread. (I do wish they would have whipped butter or thaw the butter before putting it on the table.)
