I came to see Dr Hugate with an infected leg from a previous knee replacement surgery done 4 months before. My leg was hurting and sore and I could not straighten it. Dr Hugate operates on it the next month and put a spacer in it. In recovery I woke up and my first question was:” is my leg straight”? It was and for 3 months I walked with a straight leg that partially bent. But I was not infected and I was on the road to recovery. Today I have a new knee replacement and feeling better!

Dr Hugate was my surgeon in 2015 when he operated on my left leg for a soft muscle tumor that also impacted my femur. The complex surgery of 3 hours required the removal of the tumor, muscle, knee and 6” of my femur. His surgical abilities are unmatched. His bedside manner and ability to talk to the patient in easily understood terms sets him apart. There is no other surgeon for complex orthopedic/oncology matters that should be chosen. He is special.

Dr. Hugate's expertise and compassion showed itself from my first visit to my last. He clarified our decision (my wife included) to have an amputation. As the premier limb salvage surgeon in the state, he was the only doctor willing to give percentages when it came to outcomes. I will be forever grateful to him! I am now walking with my prosthetic leg four months after the amputation.

Dr Hugate and his staff were wonderful. We would recommend him to others Was quite a bit suprised (as I am sure his staff and associates were) that he up and left. It is disconcerting to patients that are depending on him for continuity of care. My daughter had just had a major procedure (Ganz) and less than 2 weeks later he was not available!!!

Dr. Hugate took over my case after my 5th hip surgery in 1 1/2 years! He fixed everything the first time and I've had no problems since. He is caring and kind and has always explained everything in terms I can understand and until I am satisfied with the explanation. I would not trust anybody else with my joints from here on. I am a nurse so I don't say this lightly.

THE BEST. Did revisions on my 20 year old hip replacements (one had mad a hole in my pelvis). No other ortho could do my surgery. I now walk 4 enjoyable miles a day and can do almost anything. I am 70 years old. Highly recommend . I was referred to Dr. Hugate by another ortopedic GROUP who did not have his skills!!!. He is also a wonderful person.

Dr. Hugate is an outstanding doctor. After a brutal auto accident, I was confined to a wheelchair and had been told by other doctors that I would never walk again or if I did, I would always use a cane. Even though we had to deal with an infection, I am walking and going about life pretty much the way I did before my accident. For people considering an orthopedic physician, I would say that Dr. Hugate his experience beyond his years, due to his military service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I had a tumor, and felt confident in putting myself in Dr Hugate's hands. Four years later, I'm doing well, and appreciate the thorough follow-up I receive from him.
