Excellent variety of fresh local produce, amazing array of bulk foods, teas and, and spices. (Before you think bulk= huge amounts, not so. I buy spices, teas, staples by the gram, oz, or pound, can replenish more often. Little glass spice containers are available right there for $1- 2). Lots of cheese varieties, many local, ditto wines and beers. A nice salad/hot food bar. I almost never go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.
Fresh produce, local meats with a real butcher to answer questions, great selection and also new things and friendly people. What more could you want?
I have nothing but praise for river valley co-op. The food is top quality, the prices are fair to consumers and farmers/producers/workers, and the staff and ambiance makes shopping our family's favorite household errand. Thank you!
