River City was the best for me! – As a gay man very active in the community, I sometimes find myself facing various forms of descrimination- especially when it comes to housing. Imagine my surprise when I came to River City Real Estate and found not only gay friendly employees, but a gay leasing agent who helped me move right in! These guys are the best and I recommend River City Real Estate to everyone!!!
Despite what some deadbeat losers may say on this site, River City Real Estate is the BEST VALUE for the money. R0aches, sinking floors and ceilings, unethical rental office representatives – The only reason positive reviews are here is because the unethical rude leasing agents go to various sites and post false reviews in an effort to trick people into renting from them. These apartments are so old, they even still have the metal radiators and they have r0aches. The floors and ceilings are sinking and there is a serious problem with mold. Slumlords – River City has to be one of the worst management companies in Richmond. They attempt to maximize profit by minimizing spending on maintenance. Their leases are heavily slanted toward Landlord profit and they seek to nickel and dime tenants at every opportunity. They have hidden fees associated with maintenance requests and the employees are inept, unorganized and rude. Be prepared to get nasty and put everything in writing or it will come back to bite you.
Avoid RCRE. They will make you miserable. – A very bizarre and horribly managed company, whose problems are too numerous to list here. Rent is cheap and the location of most of the properties are good. You may rent from RC for a while with no problems. But, the longer you rent, the more problems you will have, until management makes your life so bad that you can't wait another second to leave. The company could be an asset to the community. River City is the BEST! – I rented a two apartments from River City Real Estate. My first apartment was a nice two bedroom on Grace Street (in the Fan) when I was finishing up college (VCU - Go Rams!). For the money, it was the best place around! I had a front balcony that overlooked Grace and off-street parking in the rear. There was also laundry in the basement of my building! River City was Good to Me! – I lived at two River City Real Estate Apartments and I had no problems. In fact, they were the ONLY company that would allow me to have my two dogs (both rescues). The buildings were in the Fan (historic district) so they were very old, but whenever I had a maintenance issue, the fixed it right away. Now, I know that a lot of their tenants are college (slacker) kids, but, I paid my rent on time and didn't trash the place - so maybe I had a better experience. Overall- River City was good to me!
Stay away. never heard anything good about them – I don't live in this building but live in another owned by River City. roof caved in. leak "fixed" twice and still leaking and molding. cannot contact anyone in person. their phone # only gives voicemailboxes. if you sound like a prospective renter, they call back, otherwise you never hear back. they never reply to emails. they upped my rent without telling me and outright lied about it when i asked them. maintenance men stole money from my apt. they've been taken to court se... read more
