I had been in pain since February 2019.Went to a total of 14 doctors(primary care, orthopedic surgeons, acupuncturists, and pain relief specialists. My pain level increased from 7/8 to 8/9 during the 14 month period. I am 87 years old and suffering from osteoporosis-spinal stenosis. I rarely take the time to write a review. However my excellent experience with Dr. Ostrup and his staff have compelled me to share my thoughts. I suffered from Spinal Stenosis for 2 years. I experienced daily leg pain that would not relent. I was referred to a Neurologist who referred me to Dr. Ostrup and suggested that I should get an MRI before seeing Dr. Ostrup, which I did. From the moment I entered the office and was escorted back by Nurse Practitioner Jeremy Bird, I knew I was in good hands. Mr. Bird explained what was wrong with my disc and patiently explained the procedure. Dr. Ostrup walked in and confirmed I needed surgery. His office staff was so good to me even though I was in the worst pain of my life and cranky! When I woke up from surgery, the pain was gone! My post op pain was well controlled and I got to have a very educational chat with Dr. Ostrup.

I had a very rare infection called Spinal Epidural Abscess which caused nerve compression. Thanks to Dr. Ostrup who performed an emergency surgery, I barely felt pain after the surgery and I had a speedy recovery! Had it not gone been so prompt and successful, I could have end up paralyzed. I am so grateful for his professionalism and expertise in his work. When I was diagnosed with a meningioma, I was presented with my options, and I appreciated that Dr. Ostrup was not quick to insist on surgery until it became necessary. He has been clear in giving me the information I needed along the way. After a two-year period of “watch and wait”, it became apparent that I needed to have surgery. I have had extreme discomfort in the back of my legs for about 5 years. I was told do not have back surgery unless it affects your lifestyle. I saw a few different spine surgeons and each one wanted to do a procedure to relieve the compression on the nerve but also do a fusion with full hardware. Dr. Ostrup perfomed an ALIF on my L4-5 in September. My issues had all disappeared by the time I woke up in my hospital room. Amazing. Would highly recommend him for any surgery he specializes in!!

Dr Ostrup went way beyond my expectations on my diagnosis and surgery. He provided me with an outstanding level of care. My pain in my legs which I have had for almost 10 years, vanished the day after surgery. I would do surgery again with him, but of course dont have to!
