Very straight forward and straight to the point! Does not recommend fixing anything that doesn't need fixing. I was hospitalized for intense leg pain due to a pinching nerve. Had epidural steroid injection which helped with the pain, only to be told it would wear off and I would need more epidural steroid injection in the future. I highly recommend Dr. Richard Ostrup. I had been suffering from low back pain for over 50 years because of severe spinal stenoses. It got to the point where I could not stand up straight anymore. This year, Dr. Ostrup performed back surgery on me and pain is now gone. He is very knowledgeable, sympathetic and personable. And he is very good at follow-ups after surgery. In addition, he has an excellent practice manager who is very thorough.
I have been a patient for Dr Richard Obstrup since June of 2020 and every visit has been pleasant due to Richard's interest on matters other than just medical matters . Dr Ostrup is not pushing for me to make a decision on my medical matter. He does point out where I stand with my medical situation, but never pushing to tackle the medical matter. Great human being
Identified and addressed emergency problem in an expeditious fashion. Excellent communicator. Technically very skilled and extremely experienced. Importantly, not just a skilled surgeon, but also a compassionate person. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone requiring neurosurgical care.

Very informative and very relaxing
While I will never be perfect, he improved my quality of life tremendously. He also did not operate on me until it was absolutely necessary. I trusted him going into surgery and also after. He is easy to talk to and listens to your questions.
Dr Ostrup was outstanding!!! He was straight forward, thorough and professional. He got the job done. He was compassionate and understanding, he listened to and addressed all of my concerns. Erica was terrific, her follow up and follow through was superb!!!
