I Love This Place – The food is great. The atmosphere makes you feel relaxed and a bit festive. Within two weeks I've been four times with different friends and it's been better every time. Vincent, at the bar, makes it worth the trip alone.
Not pretentious, but... – I wish it was better than it was. Veal scallopini was really, truly, bland. Had to ask for salt to liven it up -- tasted like it was breaded in matzo meal. Butternut squash soup was lukewarm. The service was extremely cheery and friendly and I didn't have the heart to tell her that the food was really bleh. West Coast Feel – Unpretentious restaurant with genuinely friendly staff. Outstanding wine list offering tremendous value. Consistently good food at reasonable prices. I would not pick Portofino as one of the best restaurants in town, but it is one of my favorites.
Is there a chef in the house? – Because they need some medicine in the kitchen. The food was not good, service and in particular the manager were friendly and helpful. The menu sounded inviting enough but the risotto was just plain awful. How do you tip when it isnt good food? Lovely setting on the patio
Very Accomodating – I went to Portofino with my family. There were nine of us and the staff at the restaurant could not have been nicer. I used to wait tables, and I know that my family can be very difficult. We moved tables twice before sitting. Everyone went out of their way to make our gathering as nice as possible. The food was great, and everyone at the table enjoyed themselves, but the staff was outstanding!
Great value, tremendous wine list – An assortment of Italian dishes from risottos to fish along with several pasta and pizza choices sure to please all. Wine pairings are some of the most extensive and reasonably priced in the city. Great selection by the glass as well as by the taste. This is one you can return to again and again without breaking the bank.
thumbs down – Sorry but portofino doesnt get a pass mark. Sad italianate food with nothing original and nothing good. The server was rude and unattentive, unless he had spilt something on me it couldnt have been worse. He got our order wrong and really didnt care. Pizza was undercooked and tough, mussels overcooked but the broth was nice, mozzarella was tough and flavourless. Didnt want to spend any more money to find out what their desserts had to offer
Girl's Night Out – My friends and I always pick Portofino to get together. It is the cutest restaurant and we have never been dissapointed. We always try to sit on the patio. If I were to have to pick a favorite restaurant in Atlanta this would be it.
Fabulous – Ever since we found Portofino we have been bringing out-of-town friends when they visit. We like having a relaxed, great restaurant to show off to our friends from New York, Chicago and California. So far everyone's been impressed particularly with the wine list and food.
