I can’t say enough good things about Portland Veterinary Emergency! On Friday night my dog had fell going up our porch stairs and fractured her jaw bone. She stayed overnight Friday and had surgery on Tuesday. The surgeon gave us options to choose from and helped us choose what was best for our girl. They were great about keeping us updated on our pup and always provided so much information, answering all of our questions. I recommend this place if you ever need care for your pet. The people who work here really care.

I brought my cat in yesterday because she was vomiting blood. I called ahead and was told I would be able to “get right in.” I waited for over an hour. When I called from the parking lot to tell them I was leaving and bringing my cat elsewhere all of a sudden they were able to come get my cat. They clearly only did this so they wouldn’t lose out on the money because they waited an additional hour to even begin treating my cat. The final bill was over $200 higher than what they had originally estimated and they still had NO A... read more

Our feline fur-baby is our world, and her health and happiness is our main priority. And when the need arose Monday for an emergency enema and our vet was closed, we were pleasantly surprised with our first visit ever at the PVESC. Such lovely compassionate people from the staff who answer the phones, to the techs and doctors overseeing their care, we got the sense they truly care about the animal family members being brought to them. They also make a stressful situation much less stressful. And their specialty doctors are l... read more

5 stars. Operation under new Covid protocols is difficult. I had to accompany a friend today to say goodbye to her loving 13 year old dog. Of course he started truly declining this weekend and our only option was an emergency vet. Her hope and plan was different but dogs don’t understand plans. They had clipboards with paperwork easily accessible outside at the front door. Their parking spots were clearly marked with numbers and instructions. They carefully considered all of our concerns and requests and tactfully followed t... read more

Our dog Ellie (beagle mix) had surgery to remove 2 masses and one was found to be cancerous. Ellie was started on chemotherapy with Dr Gail Mason and had her last chemo treatment a couple of days ago. We all deeply appreciate the care provided by Dr Mason and the team of doctors and assistants at Portland Vet emergency and specialty care. The staff were all very caring and we have great confidence in them. Ellie is pictured with her big brother Ollie- who is also quite happy to have her doing well. Thank you!!

Business response:

Ellie!!!!!!! She is a Rockstar! We are looking forward to seeing more pictures of their antics....<3

We had to bring our 7 week old puppy in on Tuesday night, she was very sick. She would not eat, she was vomiting and had diarrhea. She could barely stand up she was so weak, she tested positive for Parvo. This was a scary moment but from start to finish, everyone at this place was amazing! They are so nice, empathetic, caring and willing to answer any questions at any time of day or night. They kept her overnight for 2 nights and we were able to bring her home tonight, she is doing very well. I cannot thank these people enou... read more

I brought my cat Jax here a couple times. The first time I came they updated me regularly and helped me understand everything going on. Poor Jax got diagnosed with congestive heart failure. They sent me home with very helpful paperwork on how to take care of him. The second time I came in wasn’t great news. I had to get him put down. They let me spend some time with him before and after. They also sent me a card in the mail saying sorry for my loss. I recommend Portland veterinary highly. I’ll bring my other pets here again ... read more
