Ponchatoulas was founded in February 1996, by original owner Johnny Gaudet, who then partnered with Chris Garriga in 2004. With a passion for good food and fun, Gaudet opened the restaurant on the bustling Park Avenue in downtown Ruston. The building housed a fire station in the early 1900's, complete with the big red fire truck and even horse-drawn carriages lining the downtown streets. Some years later, the location became a landmark for one of history's music legends, Elvis Presley. Presley recorded in an upstairs studio ... read more

We came down for the Hogs vs La Tech baseball game and had lunch here! The food was awesome and the service was great! A 5 star review all the way!! Go Hogs!!! 😀😀
We loved it !! Awesome food & service. Well worth the drive !!
I stopped here after searching on Google for the best seafood in Ruston. I'm a Yankee, traveling through Louisiana on a business trip and I love authentic Cajun cooking. Especially gumbo. Man, I love a good gumbo. But it isn't to be found a Ponchatoulas. Not even close. The Luke-warm bowl of soggy flavorless stuff that I had was just awful. How can a gumbo have no spice and no heat?
Business response:
We are sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us. We hope you had time to speak with management about the food quality so we could make sure that our recipe was being followed correctly. We would like for you to give us another try so we can show you what we are passionate about and give you a great meal!
Friendly and attentive staff not to mention the GREAT food!!!!!!!
Food was awesome - crawfish, stuffed catfish, and gumbo! Waitress could have been a little more attentive tho. Definitely go back again!
We were in Ruston to watch Marshall play La Tech. We stopped at Ponchatoulas for our pregame meal because of the great online reviews. I had the Muffaletta and my friend had the Seafood Platter. Both were excellent. Everyone was friendly, we will for sure go back the next time Marshall is in Ruston.
