Biggest joke ever. Took in a whole bag of name brand clothes(some had never been worn with tags still on) and coach shoes(didn't take) and they took only 2 items. They said my stuff had wear and tear and was out of date, but yet you look on their clothes rack and see plenty of clothing that looks way worse than the clothes I brought in.

Business response:

Sorry you had a bad experience selling with us. If you would like more info about the kinds of items we take, you can feel free to look at www.platoscloset.com and you'll find a guide that shows the brands we love. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure how brand new items, with tags, from Charming Charlie's last summer is "too dated" and barely worn sandals from Target are "too worn" but I will never go back. When I see extremely worn things that they have already accepted, hanging in racks, items that are so worn there are almost holes in them but they won't take my brand new within the last 12 month items, it's a waste of time.

Business response:

I'm sorry you had a bad experience.. we recently had our clearance and we've been trying to get out all the old inventory. Sometimes that has an effect on our decisions in buying. We are currently accepting new inventory and we'd like to invite you back and offer you a 20% discount on your next purchase.

I don't usually don't review places, and I especially don't tend to review them so poorly. After my second time going here and dealing with rude employees, I feel like it's necessary. I understand that there is some form of protocol for buying things, but there's no need to be rude about it. I said after my first time going there I wouldn't be back, but decided to give them a second chance.... that was a big mistake on my part.

Business response:

Brooke I am terribly sorry to hear you received such horrible service. We have been trying to correct situations such as these. If you could please pm our fb page and give me a description of the sales associate who was responsible in both situations so we can take the necessary actions in correcting this behavior I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

If I could give them less than 1 star, I would. I have never been so offended while trying to donate brand new shoes. There were about 1-2 shoppers in this store and about 9 teenagers working. I was told my shoes were too mature for their store. I would suggest finding a better word than mature. I would also suggest finding staff that know what they are talking about. two thumbs down.

Business response:

Hi Jill, I'm sorry you had a bad experience trying to sell with us. Plato's Closet is a teen and young adult style store. Particular styles and brands are considered to be "non teen" or " too mature" for our targeted age demographic. All of our buyers are trained to make decisions on what would and would not sell well for us. I would like to apologize if any wording made you upset. If you would like to stop in again sometime we can give you more information on what we typically look for and what styles sell well for us. You ... read more

I love this place and every time I make the trip to the East side of the state to visit family I have to make a stop! My husband and I always buy them out of their medium Hurley shirts that are always in pristine condition. I love that I don't have to break the bank to have nice clothing items and options!
