Pinos has always taken great care of me! – I have several wonderful stories about Pinos. I live and work near the neighborhood so I frequent Pinos a lot. Their food is always prepared fresh - I love their salads, Italian Fries, pizzas, sandwiches, etc. I love their food so much that I have asked Pinos to cater my graduation party in 2006 and more recently our rehearsal dinner in 2008. They were extremely helpful in choosing a menu and accommodating different food allergies and gluten sensitivity. Everyone at both parties rav... read more
Pino's in Point Breeze – We have lived in Point Breeze for over a year but have visited Pino's even before we moved to Pittsburgh. My colleagues from Buffalo, St. Louis, and Princeton all ask to go there when they are in town. We have found the service to be fine, the food excellent, and the ambiance what you would expect from a family restaurant with what I like to call cuisine creativity. We will be there again. Sorry for those who had a bad experience. Surely you're in the minority.
Good food...but not good enough to put up with the bad service – Pino's used to be a favorite years ago when it first opened but it seems the service has really gone downhill. We like many things on the menu--the strata and risotto cakes were favorites--but we almost always run into service issues: Order takes way too long to come, take-out tells me 20 min but I arrive and wait 40 min more, rude/abrupt service staff, etc. We finally got to the point where we asked to talk to the owner but she was defensive and self-righteous... read more
No GO – if a restaurant has great food but mediocre services I'll likely go back but if it doesn't have either that's a shame. A bunch of friends and I went to Pino's last night and by 9:30 (they claim to close at 10pm) they had asked us if we still wanted our water glasses so they could wash them, had peeked at us numerous times to see if we were done yet and had turned off the lights in the place! The only ruder experience I have had is when I went to an Indian buffet and they took my plate from me while I was still eating... read more
My favorite neighborhood restaurant -- still recommneded highly – An e-mail exchange from and to a friend and colleague in Boston: -----Original Message----- From: MIT colleague Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 12:41 PM To: CMU colleague Subject: Pino's We have a postdoc going to Pittsburgh to work at Pitt's Med Center and I was planning to recommend Pino?s. I looked up it up online and found the recent reviews to be from one extreme to the other. Have you eaten there recently? Is it still as good as when we had our dinner th... read more
LOUSY food – do yourself a favor & skip this place...they are over-priced and the food is so bad...go to MYM next door or to Brugge
overrated swindlers – My husband and I are new to the Point Breeze neighborhood. We've been to PINO's twice. The first visit was for brunch, which was inferior to the brunch of the restaurant just up the street! The second visit we ordered a pizza for take-out. Not only did they burn my first pie (a forgivable offense), but they ADDED a SIX dollar tip on to my credit card--ONE I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. The pizza, which I'd heard was wonderful was sub-par and expensive. We paid $21 for a Margherita Pie. Not only will I never patro... read more
Incredibly mediocre – Being a Point Breeze local I've been meaning to try Pino's for a long time - it was however a great disappointment. The food was really bland and uninteresting. Service was the only good thing about this restaurant - our waitress was prompt and attentive. The restaurant was also very noisy making conversation hard.
Horrible Service and sub par food – Went there the other day and waited extremely too long for not only my food, but even a glass of water. when food finally came, it was merely O.K. don't waste your day on this place.
