About this business

Enjoy a classic Vietnamese fare at Pho Van SE 82nd. Keeping it a family affair, the food comes straight out of a mother's cookbook and is made from authentic ingredients using traditional styles. The menu covers all courses that starts off with appetizers such as Chả Giò Chay that are crispy vegetable rolls or the Tangy Beef salad. Mains are categorized as either with rice or noodles topped off with specials such as Cơm Cà Ri Gà (Vietnamese chicken curry) or Bún Tôm Thịt (ho... read more

definitely not worth it! – Ok so the restaurant was a little busy but waiting for your food to arrive for 40 minutes? We were about to walk out but our food came. We ordered the oiliest springrolls we've ever had! I took a bite and the oil was dripping down my chin. Plus, one third of it was burnt. Our waitress never apologized for our long wait. Chicken curry was so-so, my lemongrass soup tasted good. Overall bad bad experience, never go back!

Family vietnamese eatery. – Very nice restaurant, with comprehensve menu (alot of dishes for two or more people), try the crispy rolls, for an appetizer ($5 for 4) I had the glazed flame broiled pork and shrimp with rice. The pork and shrimp was excellent but I could have handled more than three half skewers. My partner had the beef special pho, it was decent (watch out for the hot peppers on the side). I think we'll try a hot pot next time. The space, prices and service were all great. Try the fresh brewed mango black iced ... read more

GREAT changes at Pho Van! – The price can't be beat! We enjoy Pho Van a lot. Having eaten at several other Pho places in Portland, I think this one has the best food and it definitely has the best ambience. 2/2005 They have recently redone the decor--love it! They have also revamped the menu---we LOVE the 7 (?) Courses of Beef. It is great fun---You must try it!! It is an excellent value and is great for a change from pho. Be prepared to try new things! I think the flavor of the beef broth is great (although not quite as goo... read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! – This is my new favorite place! The atmosphere is very spacious with big booths and georege nelson lighting. Service ~ Almost TOO good. The food is by far the best asian food in the city. Big portions, low prices. I went with a group of 4 and the bill was $50. That included drinks! The papaya salad with beef was incredible. And the dessert? Creme Brulee that had an asian kick to it and out of this world banana bread pudding. So many choices on the menu to try, I'll definately be back! HIGHLY RECOMMENDE... read more

Try the catfish – I was afraid that the renovation of the Pho Van on 82nd would make it to fancy. On the contrary, it has a warmer, more comfortable feel and some of the new food items are delish! Try the Roasted Catfish. It's so good, it's magical. I'm still waiting for the "Beef in 7 Courses" and hot pot offerings, which, as of mid-January, were on the menu, but still not available. The pho is some of the best in the city -- fantastic broth, fresh, abundant vegetables, and a variety of sauces.

Great place, great prices – I disagree with what the person said about the prices-- they aren't bad at all. We ate there recently for $45-- 3 adults with a meal and an order of salad rolls each, plus 1 toddler. That included the tip. Two of us had the skewered shrimp on top of the noddles, and the third had a dish you put together yourself, with ground chicken/shrimp on sugar cane, and all kinds of toppings.

food prices to high – I eatten at a lot of pho places and pho van is the most expensive place..and you don't get as much food and the services isn't that good either compare to the other cheaper places. I recommend pho hung or the other places.

They're slipping – Last time I went to Pho Van, the service was so slow. Then once we got our food, one soup wasn't even very hot. The meat in the other one looked a little to raw. Plus it didn't all come out at the same time so I shared my entree with my daughter. All in all we spent the whole evening there on a weeknight when we just wanted to come eat and leave. Maybe success is more then they can handle, or they are just getting tired.
