Mix and match items from the creative menu at this romantic bistro, which features American food with a twist. You first pass under an American flag and then enter the dining room walking past photos of regulars and the staff. Standard rosemary chicken gets a touch of salsa and barbecued ribs are topped with peach and mango relish. Diners favor the overstuffed Chicken Potpie and the grilled Mile High Sirloin Steak. The bar is always jumping.

the perfect brunch – A good friend of mine recommended this place for Sunday brunch, so i called and made a reservation a week in advance. When we got there it was just getting busy and so we had to wait a few minutes until we got seated. What my friend didn't tell me is that on Sundays they have unlimited Bloody Marys for $17, on top of having a great brunch menu. I ordered Eggs Benedict, which were perfectly done ( i order the same thing anywhere i go). Our food came out fairly fast, and the server checked on us and was ve... read more
Fun place good food – The night that we came in they had a Jazz band playing which was lovely and it set a good mood. Its a very romantic place, so it was a good choice for our date night. The food was good and the portions were good sized. One of my favorite things that we tried was the baked brie, i recommend that everyone tries that appetizer. Also the service is amazing, the hostess was really pleasant and the servers were extremely attentive and our waters were always filled.
Philip Marie is a spectacular restaurant – My family, friends and I have been coming to Philip Marie for years and it is one of our favorites. The food is unique and delicious and we have grown quite a fondness for the staff. Recently they had a Mardi Gras party (our 2nd time attending) and it was fantastic. They had an amazing band (the gotham playboys from bruce springsteens old band) and everyone was enjoying the food and having a blast. The only snag in the night was a very disrespectful couple (see roomspimps review ((c... read more
Food was not very good but at least the service sucked – Tonight I had the misfortune of going to Philip Marie. This was my first and last visit to this horribly crowded dump on the corner of Hudson & 11th ST. We had reservation for 9:30 PM and when we called no one informed us that there was a special Mardi Gras celebration going on and that there was a pre-fixed menu. We had purchased a special discount coupon from restaurants(dot)com and when we sat down we told our waiter this was the case. He informed us that they do no... read more
Beautiful – Stopped in not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. We were seated quickly and ordered wine as it seemed to be what most people were doing. Though we don't know a whole lot about wine we knew we wanted a white zin and the waitress suggested a great one for us. The menu is very interesting and varied which is a huge plus for me because I normally get stuck ordering the same old meals. But in this case I had a hard time deciding. I had a chicken breast with brie and pesto and it was excellent. We sa... read more
Great place for any meal – I have been to Philip Marie for their brunch and dinner a couple times and always enjoyed. They recently changed most of their menu and to my surprise I easily replaced my favorite meals there (though they did keep most my favorite appetizers). I had an salmon & chive burger that was delicious and my boyfriend had a cream of tomato soup and open steak sandwich. We were both very pleased. Our waitress was great and she had served us before so we had fun chatting with her. My friends and I love it @ ... read more
Fancy for no reason – Yesterday me and my husband went there because of citysearch reviews and thier menu online. When we got there, we found out that they changed the entire menu and made the prices higher. Inspite of this, we ordered mussels and salmon entree. The mussels were okay, nothing special. But the salmon turned out to be horrible, we cook it at home much better even though we are not cooks. So what are they so priced up? To look just fancy?
Dreadful – May be the worst food I've ever had in NYC (tied with nearby Tartine). I don’t know where the rave reviews come from; perhaps there are two Philip Maries in the area and I just happened to have gone to the wrong one. Food was bland, poorly prepared and over-priced. My Mediterranean sea bass had a muddy freshwater fish taste (my guess it was tilapia). The fish was uncooked in the middle and was covered in some type of brown sweet sauce - strange combination. I sent it back and got the salmon instead, which too was ... read more
Lovely setting and elegant food – Just came home from a great meal. We were a group of eight coming together from all over the world and we were all impressed with the preparation and beautiful presentation of the food here. The service was also friendly and attentive. Can't remember when I last had such an all-around good experience.
