So I have tried to have a IRA taransferred to Penfed. It has taken over a month to accomplish. Then it went to the wrong type of account. The problem with this institution is everything goes through the main phone line. So I get a call from the retirement department giving me an extension to call back to. You have to use the main number to call back on so you go through all the screening again and then have to get connected to a live person to tell them the extension you want and they want to try and fix your problem before ... read more
Trying to take care of my father's estate and thought had a representative Maria Colon, handling the situation. When I called today to follow up, I was surprised nothing was done. Pretty sure they will try to add fees and fines for the time it was not handled. This falls on Penfed. Not having competent reps is not the consumers fault, and I'm not even a consumer. Bad experience and overall bad business practice. Unacceptable!
I joined a credit union because I was under the impression they are more member focused then a bank. Since the pandemic that has gone out the window. Being a member does not mean you will be treated like family or have ownership in the credit union, I don't care what the marketing tools say, YOU ARE NOT! Money was fraudulent taking out of my account on April 11,2022. Every time I call customer service to see the status of what’s going on I either get put on hold for an hour or sent to a voicemail mail. I feel like PenFed don’t care about their customers and customer service reps are untrained.. I have been with PenFed for many years but this is unacceptable!!
They made a mistake when reversing a fraud charge at the same time they were converting from one accounting system to a new one. They put the charge back on my account and 6 months later I still cannot get anyone to actually fix it or call me back. Their customer service reps are very low functioning and seem completely untrained. Always several transfers to someone else that I then have to re-verify with. They are a nightmare to deal with. I was a member for over a year. All of sudden out of nowhere they closed my accounts without me evening knowing and put my money into their general fund. Every time I call to try to get my money they are rude and say that it's in a general fund and i don't have access to it. Is this legal? Can a bank close your account and keep your money when you do not owe them any money what so ever. Should I get lawyer so, I received me money back? Does this bank normally steal from their members and get away with it?

I cannot express how angry and disappointed I am with Penfed. I have been a member of this bank for over 18 years, and never had an issue until I attempted to utilize my VA benefits for a home purchase in Virginia. I was assigned a loan officer named Tom, who was able to send me numerous pre-qual letters as I placed bids on properties during my house hunting trip from Washington. WOW!!!! Thank the Lord above for leading me to this page. I received a small loan from an outside company that use the funding from Pend Fed. Of course In order to receive my funds It is mandatory to put a $5 deposit into the savings account they force you to have. I am planning on buying a new car for my birthday in May and I was told that it's best to finance through a credit union and not the dealership.
