My friend and I just returned from our wonderful Mayan trip in Guatemala. Wow!!
Was great but decsiminated when traveling alone. Worst rooms and guide never asked one time I. 17 days to take I. Pics with my camera of animals and sights on ultimate Africa. Haven't used them since now going to Australia with my fiancé and maybe give them another chance. They threw ima $509 voucher for My in convenience but never used it swearing I would never travel with them solo again. I will be taking my fifth OAT trip next month. I have met so many wonderful travelers and have absolutely loved every trip I have taken with OAT. The trip guides have all been amazing and so willing to make sure you experience the true culture and beauty of their countries. Memories to last a lifetime.
They made a mistake on the travel arrangements and it's impossible to get them to fix it. Made an appointment for a call back, no one calls. I've given up will do the travel they arranged and hope their land arrangements are better organized than their travel.
Terrible! One of the worst experiences of a lifetime for a well traveled individual. Local guides are tremendous. Non refundable policy. You are given travel points which they hope will run out before you realize what has happened. Certainly, not a place for a single traveler even though this is advertised as one of their strong points... Minimal accommodations and some times treacherous travel conditions. This person will never repeat with this group.
I have travelled with OAT several times now. I have always had a great time and have no complaints. I have switched trips more than once and have never had a problem. I always booked my own flights and buy my own insurance. Most travel companies have some pretty strict rules around last minute changes and cancellations. I have met some pretty amazing people on these trips and the caliber of the guides and hotels is very good to excellent. I am booked for another trip in August. The fine print: I just received a check for items stolen during a South American trip to Machu Picchu/ Galapagos. The insurance covers only the depreciated value of items. In this case, only 34% of replacement costs. Settlement took over 4 months after the first correspondence with the insurance company. Not good on all counts.
We have just returned from the Ancient Kingdoms trip to Southeast Asia. It was incredibly superb in every single aspect. Absolutely everything was perfect...the guides, locations, hotels and restaurants. Great care was given to the many sites and villages we visited as well as interacting with the people. We loved every moment and cannot wait to use OAT in future travels. OUTSTANDING overall.
