They charged me $7,000 for a CT scan which is about 3x the national average... pure profit institution. Rudest doctor in my life... oh and a training nurse stabbed me twice.

An older hospital building, yes. And I was nervous about that until I got in the lobby, which was open and beautiful. The care I received was outstanding. Staff was concerned and attentive. Every need was thought of, down to a reusable bag to bring home meds, etc. I had eye surgery and was loaded down with patches and everything I needed, including an eye wash just for comfort and the "old lady" sunglasses with the shields on the side. I spent nearly 3 months at Porter Hospital and watched them save my sons life. Nearly 10 hours a day and found the hospitalto be clean beyond reproach. Its staff was very professional, friendly and compassionate. I would recommend Porter Adventist Hospital to anyone looking for top-notch medical care.
It is dirty
My cousin was transferred here from St. Anthony's where the doctors and nurses were able to sympathize with us very well. They put him on antibiotics as he wished and he improved slightly. As soon as he was transferred to Porter, the doctors quit the antibiotics (even though we were paying for them) and they said there is no use because of how sick he is...they actually denied the one treatment that has been helping. It's a dirty place and I wish for no one as ill as my cousin to be stuck here. Awful experience for everyone ... read more
