The property is great and luscious. We were treated very kindly just be careful when checking in not to get roped into a “tour of the property” which is timeshare. You don’t get your money back for that no matter what the lady at the Vacations desk says. Also when buying food from the Marketplace make sure your food is in good condition to eat. We loved the room and the pools. Very clean. Excellent stay unless you had to interact with anyone who worked there. Wow. Time and time again each time they were terrible. One thing after another. And yet we would stay again because the resort itself is wonderful. We will just make sure not to eat at the restaurants, talk to the front desk and definitely not to the manager. Avoid the workers and the stay is wonderful.
Resort was great. Apartment (3 bedrooms 2 baths) clean and comfortable. Only thing I did not like was the $9.00 a person charge daily for a tube for the Lazy River (that was a ripoff) Personal tubes not allowed. Staff very nice and helpful. We were 4 adults and 5 children and a good time was had by all.
We stayed at River Island for a 7 day family vacation and it was wonderful!! ALL employees treated us great and they always had a smile and greeted us. I defiantly will recommend this resort to everyone! The building and grounds were always clean!
We saw a roach when we arrived. Called the front desk to treat the issues. Three days later I killed one in the shower. Call the desk to confirm they performed the treatment. They did not. Asked they come again. Five hours later they never arrived. Grossss.
Nice amenities- with golfing and pools (even though it’s $7/day to tube the lazy river). Plenty of paved trails for the golf carts, so beware if you plan to walk or run. Terribly thin walls with kids running all hours of the night and morning on the floor above us. We called the reception area as well as the neighbors directly about the noise and didn’t get any help or reprieve of any kind. I’m really disappointed in this hotel. We checked in late yesterday into our suite in the East village. My kids were exhausted and just wanted to go to bed. When we walked into the bedroom with the two queen beds, the room had a foul odor, so I sprayed some fabreze around hoping that would help. Shortly after, my daughter laid in her bed and she said it smelled like urine. I smelled the sheets and they stunk horribly. I pulled them up and the smell got even stronger. Two days into a week stay and I've found a bed bug and been bitten. Told my housekeeping that it wasn't a bed bug (saved the carcass). I asked for a call from a manager and got the housekeeping manager who says they'll simply repeat the inspection process from yesterday. I have pictures of the bed bug carcass and the tell tale clustered bites. 2/4 burners on stove didn't work (I've seen other reviews mention this) The amenities are nice and everyone is very friendly so +1 star for that. Had a great time on the property. Beautiful accommodation with wonderful pools. Great staff except for when we bought our tickets to Bush Garden. We bought our tickets right from the resort and asked about a Military discount and was told there was not one. Spent $520 dollars on tickets and when we got there found out the whole family could have gotten in for FREE. Went back to the desk to complain and get our money back but they only thing they could do is offer us another discount on different attractions. Huge waste of mo... read more
