We have been coming for three or four years. This year was the worst. My son was disappointed and wanted hot chocolate and cookies on the train. We missed "picking up santa" and seeing the lights at the "North Pole". I think for the lessened experience the price should have gone down. Not enough interaction to entertain the kids. I doubt we will be back next year.
Took our kids expecting the same as year past and it was not. My kids were looking forward to the hot coco and cookies on the train which we found out after that they were on the platform only. We had read the kids the Polar Express story thinking they would get their bells like in years past so they knew the their meaning and all they got were little candy canes. For the cost being high which it was worth in the past to were they have gone now with doesn't seem like the cost is worth it anymore. We also had to explain to ou... read more
This was a great Christmas experience. Porter Jim was Broadway class with the carol singing lead and the highly animated anecdotes. " A visit from St Nick" rendition was one of the highlights. Train feels like a cross between Harry Potter and the Polar Express. After a big build up involving a lot of bell ringing, Santa appeared and did not disappoint. Lots of photo opportunities with Santa, then more carol singing on the way home. Santa was great for the kids and the romantic olde world steam train ambience was great for th... read more

Thanks for the great review! Glad your family had a good time on the Christmas Express!
This was the third time we took the Christmas train. Unfortunately the most charming things about the experience were taken away. They used to in years past serve cookies and hot cocoa on the train with people dressed kind of like the people from the polar express. Now they serve cookies and lemonade on the platform. They used to have elves on the train that were fun and sang Christmas carols. Now they have a person who tells stories and leads the songs but they are hard to hear and the stories do not hold the kids interest.... read more
This has been our 3rd or 4th time on the polar express experience and this year by far was the worst. Very disappointed.
Business response:
Leslie, sorry you were disappointed in the Santa Express train. Please let us know specifics so we can maybe address any concerns and make any corrections that might be necessary to improve the experience for our passenger guests. Thank you.
For the money we spent the train goes down track for 10 min and then goes forward!!! We didn't sing any songs. We drove hour and half to ride the train my five year old was very sad!!!He wanted to sit on his lap and tell him Christmas list.He said mommy I have been a good boy , Why didn't he ask me? We won't come back next year....
Business response:
The Santa Express is a 45 to 50 minute ride with story telling, songs (12 days of Christmas is my favorite), candy canes, cookies and apple cider on the platform while you are waiting for the train to arrive. Ohhh, and most important; a visit from Santa himself! With over 150 passenger guests on a 50 minute ride it just isn't possible for every child to sit on Santa's lap. Santa will chat with each family and provide an opportunity for a quick photo or two. I also want to mention you are riding in vintage turn of the century... read more
Coolest attraction in Lake County. The Christmas Train is the best
