My husband was a victim of identity theft and someone opened a loan in his name with Oportun. He had a very difficult time trying to get in touch with someone there to report it. After writing a review, someone finally contacted him and we received letters in March stating that the loan were not his responsibilty and that they would be deleted from his credit history. Received information through the mail at my old address in *********, it was forwarded here to my new state that I have been in since August 2021. Called customer service gave the reference number requested explained that I did not apply for this loan, nor would I! Person on the phone wanted more personal information which I was obviously not going to give them. Point blank I did not apply for a loan, I gave the Reference number just stop whatever shady process they have going on, or I will seek legal advice! Ridiculous

Terrible customer service. I called over 50 times trying to get help fixing the mistake they made. They screwed up my credit score bad. They sent me a letter with a phone number to call but nobody ever answers that number and they do not return the messages you leave; I left many of them. I just got another letter from them literally lying to me about the situation saying I did things that I didnt. no one knows what they are doing and kept passing me around different departments. They would not help me with a fraud application issue,

I have had a great experience with Oportun. My credit wasn't great and they approved me when nobody else did. I was also approved for a credit card after I paid off my first loan.

I received two notices saying that my loan application was not approved, I called to explain I NEVER requested a loan with the company. The individual that answered my called attempted to get more personal information from me. She then said she was transferring me but i could tell she was just listening on the phone. I then said are you transferring me. She said yes and then hung up the phone on me shortly afterwards. I have an 840 fico score and I have no need for their funding. I recently requested a payoff to Oportun from another financial institution I provided the institution with the address shown on my payment receipt from Oportun. IT has been almost 2 weeks and payment is not showing so I called Oportun and they tell me they will not recieve the payment because that address is not the correct one. Business contacted me, unsolicited, leaving several voicemails, indicating they needed additional information to process a $7000 loan applied for with an unrecognized, overseas email address, along with some accurate demographic information about me. Instantly identifying it as fraud, I contact their customer service number and was given the run-around on multiple phone calls, after simply requesting their fraud department.
